I need a good A/C for one of my vehicles
#1
Like the title says. I need someone who is reasonable to look at the A/C on my XJ. I have already done all the trouble shooting. Even had it at my most trusted backyard mechanic friend. Next stop is taking it into the shop.

What's wrong with it?

Oh my friend, it is hard to explain so I will try. First of all it is an r12 system converted to r134. It is blowing hot air, the clutch does not engage but when you jump it to a 12 volt source it engages. When hooked up to gauges it reads that overcharged but when the clutch engages it read charged just right. Oh, and to make it more confusing when the clutch engages it still blows hot air. The whole system is confusing. I took to my trusted backyard mechanic friend, who has worked on and fixed lots of vehicles. I voltage to the compressor and the continuity is good. I am confused and frustrated. I need to get if fixed by the first weekend in August.

Keep in mind my frustration comes from taking my camry in for a simple drain and fill of the coolant and finding out that the water pump is leaking. Since the camry is a hybrid I didn't want to tackle that repair. Then my a/c quit working in the same car. The mechanic who changed the water pump didn't want to touch the a/c due it being a hybrid and an electric compressor. That turned into a >600 dollar repair week.

Just got a call from the shop. Compressors shot, metal shavings throughout the system. 1900 dollars to fix. Not getting it done. Time to gather parts for OBA.

All in good time. Too hot to be outside for me right now. I think the orifice tube is the hardest to find.
