Trip or Trail report? You decide…
This was brutal & fun all at the same time.
As the TMHQ guy said this course WILL expose any & all your weaknesses that was NO lie!
We started strong, ran / sprinted when & where we could we did have to make a few stops to evict the mud from our shoes but over all we kept a constant pace & did our best to keep moving. There were a few obstacles where we had a traffic jam & ended up waiting 15-20 minutes (that didn’t help out our injuries any) but we pushed on!
I'm not the best swimmer and water does intimidate me, walk the plank height was a tad spooky but hitting the bottom of a 15’ hole after I jumped panicked me, the water was very cold (not as cold as the arctic enema but a close 2nd) and trying to swim out you could tell I kinda lost it, heard some lady yell stand up stand up & so my feet once again found solid but slippery ground.
Around mile 8 my groin muscle cramped and it wouldn’t let up, from that point on any sprinting / jogging was a thing of the past, I’m cold wet and spent! From here on is where the mental part kicks in, my body telling me “your done!” and I keep pushing.
Everest (1/4pipe) as you wait your turn your standing in mud (go figure) upon watching people fail & fail again I scanned the top pointed to the biggest mofo he nodded & I ran 1st try got up grabbed his hand & he helped me up.
The last obstacle, electro shock therapy 10,000 volts no joke will put your face in the mud!(you could hear the “POP” every time someone got hit) This stuff felt like Chuck Norris hit me with a 15lb sledge hammer! Took 2 hits & my arse was handed to me, seriously disoriented me a bit too, then I see everyone running / crawling as fast as they can, Bob was a blur!!! As I'm trying to hurry along I missed the 10sec window and here comes 10,000 again, Bob got hit I get a face full of mud, then hit in the shoulder & a swinging wire nails me again in the head or ear and everything goes black! I crawled the best I could to get out if I remember right Bob had to pull me out and we crossed the finish line!
In the end I believe Mike said our time was a tad over 5hours.
Our goal wasn’t to do this fast, our goal was to cross the finish line a TEAM and we did! (Please don’t mistake my I’s this is my point of view of the race & a team effort to get to the end!)
You cannot do this course alone, you need a team, Bob again thanks! You rock! Your awesome! & I'm honored to have ran this with you!
I understand that Tough Mudder
Is not a race but a challenge.
I put teamwork and camaraderie
Before my course time.
I do not whine, kids whine.
I help my fellow Mudders
Complete the course.
I over come all fears.
