Friends don't let friends drive stock..

Michael's been saying that to me for a year now. I haven't found a need for a lift, as my Jeep is primarily a daily driver and only sees the dirt when I go hunting. The current clearance is good and if I get a lift, it would probably just be for looks.

As fate would have it, I ran into a deal that I could not pass up.

While I was searching for tires/rims for my trailer project, I came across a deal on a Teraflex lift kit. Turns out, it was Joe and Jason @ Absolute Offroad. So, last night I visited Joe and Jason at their new shop. They are still in the process of moving to the adjacent retail space.

They had a Teraflex 2.5" Performance Budget Boost Lift Kit w/ shocks that was pulled from a customer's vehicle. They said it only had about 3,000 miles use on it. It looked to be in great condition. I've been told that these guys are pretty honest so I took them for their word. Seeing how this kit sells for $500+ new, I was happy to take it off their hands for a mere $200. The shocks alone sells for $250 for the set. :)

Per Teraflex, "To take full advantage of the Budget Boost suspension travel, wheel spacers or aftermarket wheels are required". This morning, I order two pairs of 2" spacers.

All this should look pretty good when it's done. I recently swapped out my current Goodyear 17" on OEM painted aluminum rims for some 17" BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM on OEM polished aluminum rims. Same tire size, but with a more aggressive tread pattern.

Jason and Joe also gave me a box of OEM springs and arms. He said he didn't need them and I could use them as spares. I don't think I need them but took them anyways. They are for a JK, so if anyone want them, you can have them.

I probably won't start the install until after Christmas. It's just too busy now. Hey, maybe we can have a wrenching party soon! :)

Sir, you are a good guy. Words just don't do you justice so...

I inventoried the stuff today and found that I was missing a few components. The brake line lowering bracket and the hardware to mount the drop bracket. Luckily, the guys at Teraflex keeps their inventory nice and stocked. I was able to order everything for under $20.

Chris, I may take you up on that offer. I don't have air tools and, boy, those would make the install go a LOT faster! All I have are hand tools, a pair of jack stands, and a 15 year old Sears floor jack. :)

I have Jan 13th-16th off. Maybe we can get together that Friday or Saturday. I just need to leave time for an alignment job.
