I was on my way home from my Parents house and had just pulled on to the main road when a cop car came out of the neighbourhood on the other side of the street. It pulled up fast behind my truck and then passed me on the right and then slowed down quick to get back behind me.
Having been pulled over no less than 30 times I knew what was next so I moved over to the slow lane and got ready to be pulled over (took my hat off and rolled down my window) Sure enough the lights come on and I pull off to the side of the road. I shut down the truck and put the keys on the dash and keep my hands on the wheel.
There are now two cop cars and two cops total. The original officer came to my door while the 2nd officer came 1/2 way up the passenger side of my bed.
The original officer lets me know why I have been pulled over and ask for my ID. I let her know I am happy to provide the id but if I need anything else I will need to get into my arm rest where my gun is located and then asked how she would like to proceed.
I am asked to step out of the truck and walk to the back. I do so and she informs the other officer there is a gun in the truck. He ask if it would be ok to remove and secure the gun. I respectfully decline and ask that the gun stay where it is, secured in my truck.
I was expecting a little grief over this but the officer said "ok" and moved on. With all the bad media its nice to know there are still respectful and intelligent officers out there.
When all was said and done it was nothing more than a DUI check and I was on my way.
The two officers did agree... the stuffed chicken in the passenger seat was the funniest thing they had seen this week.;)
