Impending doom- 54 F100
#1
54 F100- Sat in my Grandpas back yard for 30 years. I got it to my house a year ago. I just sold my Jeep so I could fund this truck. The name impending doom came from my Dad when he thought he was having a hart attack at work and looked up the signs, one being a sense of impending doom. I told him that we need to get the truck on the road. I didn't want to make this a son only project.
I was looking for a 351, 390,428... something like that to power the truck. She will get a lower stance and some other fun stuff to make it a nice ride.

The day she came home

My Dad cleaning out coyote poop... yeah I just said that...

ready to pull the eng

Then I pulled the eng. Need to get a good running 292...

The eng got a little heavy...

And OUT!!!

This was going to be a grandfather, father, son deal but its just me and my dad now... And just me most of the time... Its ok I love the truck and the dream of what the build could have been.

ended up getting a 302. Its shiny and came from a mustang so it should have HUGE H.P. Bwahahaaha...
Yeah anyway... Its a 302 and it was cheap. Its nice when you walk into a guys home shop and there is not a speck of dirt or oil on anything. All the tools have a spot and he knows where everything is. We ran the 302 for about a min and It sounds great. Has a little bit of a cam and some other goods. It was a back up eng for his Mustang drag car.
Things are moving now!

I picked up a 3" drop axle in Chino and started the swap. The pitman arm got stuck and things came to a hault with my turkey hunt and scouting and people being out of town. Im back at it and picking up parts. I just found the trans that will be bolting up to the 302.
C4 with a 2500 stall and shift kit. Just rebuilt by Hughes in phx. Still in the plastic wrap. $650... I pick it up on Sat.
Now that all the parts are here I am going to take the truck to a shop and have them place the eng and trans (needs new cross members) and wire it up.
I hope to have a running truck by Thanksgiving.

Picked up the trans and the stall today. I also got the front end out from under the truck.
I need to put the new one in and then get the truck to the shop to have them pace the eng and trans and replace the cross-members for them.

Back to work.

Old axle out and nothing under the front end of the truck

Got the new one in. Its a 3" drop axle. I need to head over and get a bolt to button it all up.

I like the look of that stance. Old trucks in the weeds always look good.
