ham radio license
#1
I want to get my ham radio license so I can use it in the jeep and at home

What do I need to do? What books and training material do I need?

Whats the cheapest/easiest home and vehicle setup that will still work good?

I wish I could retire at 31 and buy things just because I'm bored ;)

We were just discussing something along the idea of how to help / encourage those who had an interest at our meeting on Monday night.
In 2007 the FCC dropped the Morse code requirement and that was one of a couple of reasons to get my tech license.
Ive used the radio a few times to call for help & or assist others.
There are a few ways to get started, One option is to buy a Technician study guide at HRO (Ham Radio Outlet) or Ham test online <-- this is a good / useful study guide that teaches you & helps you in your weak areas, after you complete this course then all you need to do take the 35 question test. With that the 4x4HAM group has been talking about holding test sessions on the trail.
Also if you'd like to see / learn more the 4x4HAM group is going to the Titian Missile Museum on 10/22 and well be working the radio off there 80' antenna.
