Is a 3rd brake light required in AZ?
#1

I just finished installing my Rancho rear bumper 2/ swing-out tire carrier. I was trying to decide how/where to mount the 3rd brake light. Then it occurred to me that AZ may not require a 3rd brake light.

I was considering installing the Desert Snake Dual RotoPax tailgate carrier mount.

I "may" have room to bring up the wiring, but was just curious if it is even required.

I dont think so but Im not sure. I havent had a 3rd brake light on the TJ for about 10 years and never had a problem

No sir it is not, you only need two brake/tail lights and only one mirror

Very cool. I think I will just pull the wires into the tailgate and plug the hole with a rubber grommet.

I havent had a third brakelight for about 4 years either. Ever since mounting my swing-out carrier. I think I'm going to add one though, once I get the new wheels. I'll probably modify a center cap or something like that to mount a 2" LED round light there. I've noticed, when driving behind other jeeps with no third brakelight that I do not immediately realize that their brakelights are on. I just dont want to be rear-ended again. (I was rear-ended in 2007, which is how I got the swing-out in the first place.)

That looks nice, James!
