They have a nice setup. The theater looks nice. They did a great job remodeling the place. The theater lobby looks like lobby of a nice hotel bar. They had sofas and bar tables and a alcohol full bar that also serves food. The theater was broken up into two types of seating: Fork & Screen and Cinema Suites. Both types utilized reserved seating. You can reserve your seats in advance so there is no hunting for seats like in a regular theater.
The
Fork & Screen are for ages 18+ or those accompanied by an adult. You can order food, deserts, and drinks from a menu and they also offer full cocktail bar inside the theater. They have assigned waiters that will bring you your food and there is also a
Call Button if you need anything else from the wait staff. They only offer one size fountain drinks and popcorn. The cool thing is, you get free refills on both during your visit. At the seat, there is a table and in the armrest you will find two cup holders. Ticket pricing is estimated at $10.00 per movie. Oh, they also have kid's meals that are quite affordable.
The
Cinema Suites is similar to the Fork & Screen. The exceptions are that these theaters are for 21+ only and they offer 5 more items on the menu that is not found in the Fork & Screen. The seats are also more plush and they recline via electric motors. Ticket pricing is estimated at $15.00 per movie.
They use a high tech ordering system. The waiters had a wireless handheld device that send the order to the kitchen. It can also place a timer on the order, so you can have the food come after a timed delay. I had mine come out 45 mins after the start of the movie and the desert come out 1:15 mins after the start of the movie.
We attended a showing in the Cinema Suite. At the end of the movie, they bring you a warm towel to wipe off your hands and provide a Ghiradelli chocolate mint on your way out. I'm not sure if they do this on the Fork & Screen rooms, though. It's a nice touch. Overall, it was a fancy experience.
The cocktail prices were pretty much on par with most bars and restaurants. The food prices were a bit high and the food portions were smaller than expected. For my wife and I, our tab came to $40. That's two entrees and two sodas. Add in the cost of the movie ticket of $15 each, the date cost us $70. Of course, we didn't pay anything as we were provided a free drink and entree voucher. Value? $70.00 for an average date is on par with what I would expect to spend for a date nite that included dinner and a movie. However, a dinner at an actual restaurant would have been better.
Overall, I liked the place. It's an interesting concept. We will probably go back and try it again. There were some cool things on the menu. I had the Thai Chicken basket (which was basically chicken strips and fries with several dipping sauces). My wife had some gourmet pizza. I would like to try one of their pasta dishes next time.
I did have some complaints, though and they were eager to hear them. Here's my list.
1. The cup holders were designed to hold two different size cups. Unfortunately, their fountain cups did not fit in the cup holders properly. The cup wobbled. When I put a full cup in there, it tipped and the lemon in my drink fell out and landed on my wife's lap. It may fit the cocktail glasses. Not sure. I didn't order a cocktail.
2. The reclining seats were comfortable, but odd. The legs have to fully elevated/extended before the back reclined. I had trouble finding a comfortable position, other than fully reclined and extended. In doing so, my feet blocked part of my view of the screen.
3. They need bendy straws. When reclined in the seat, you have to recline back up to take a drink. Otherwise, you may spill it on yourself.
Avis, you attended a Fork & Screen theater, right? Let's hear some details.
