Quest for the Best Burger in AZ+
#21
Megan and I hit up SmashBurger last Friday night

She had the All American w/ cheese
American cheese, ketchup, yellow mustard, onion, and pickles on an egg bun.

I only got to steal one bite before she ate it all lol. It tasted pretty good but Id need to eat a whole one to really get a feel for it

I ordered the Arizona and a side of Smash Fries
Habanero cheese, guacamole, lettuce, tomato, onion, spicy chipotle mayo and fresh jalapeños on a spicy chipotle bun.
Smashfries- Tossed with rosemary, olive oil and garlic

Burger was pretty good. I liked it better than Culvers and it might be a little better than Lennys. I need to go back and try it again to make sure ;)

B+ possibly an A-

Thanks Chris! The Arizona looks great.

I tried The Satisfied Frog last week, haven't had time to post the pic and write-up. It was good, not great, would have been great if it had quality meat. Everything else was really good, the bun, lettuce, tomatoe, etc.

I like the Jack in the Box - Ultimate Cheeseburger. Menu item #4.

updated with pics per Alan's suggestion.

...realized I have more pics of food than kids/family in my phone. is that normal?

Offroadaz and I went to Bueno Burgers. Good stuff for sure.

I ordered the Glendale Burger. The mesquite bacon on it was great. It also had sauteed mushrooms, horseradish aioli and bbq sauce. Would def get again.

Chris and I split our burgers while holding hands and so I got to try the Bueno burger he ordered.
Very good too. Much spicier. Sweet at first then spicey.
My order:

Between the two styles I am ranking it above Lenny's now.

Great food, frys were salty but good. Downside was their soda machine was broken so we had to get canned drinks and no refills

I had the Bueno Style burger
Handmade Guacamole, Pico Salsa, Jalapeno Relish, Red Onion and Bueno Sauce

You could definitely smell and taste the mesquite wood they used to cook it on. The grill was in the front of the store next to the cash register. It gave the burgers a unique flavor and as a bonus you get to take the smoke smell home with you.

Like Mike said it was spicy and sweet at the same time. I liked mine better than his but the Glendale Style burger was still pretty good. Id give it an A. It was tastier than Smashburger

I used to be into the different burgers scene, but now as I get older, I just want a toasted bun, chopped onions, 2 slices of
dill pickle, one sheet of lettuce with mayo and mustard. Basically, a Sonic burger or one I did on my barby. I make excuses
to go to Snow Flake just so I can drop by the Sonic.:)

went to The Grind with the wife and the guys from work. Reba got the Steakhouse BLT with turkeyburger. I got the Sweet and Spicy burger. Both were really good, 4stars. I want to try the Peppercorn burger next time.

Good news, they have PBR:

Hmmm and Stella...

Continuing the documentation but in Cottonwood at the Tavern Grill

It's difficult to differentiate between more gormet custom burgers compared to classic style. This was the latter but the meat and bacon were really good. Still under $10 with fancier dining inside. Nothing off the charts but a good burger worth it.

Went to Chuckbox last week. Really good. I had the bacon cheesburger (with strange round bacon). 4 stars. The cook the burgers over hot coals, you get to seem them stoke the coals as you order. The sides sounded real good, with things like fried zuchini and onion rings. I think they were just frozen things they threw in the frier, but they weren't bad. Definitley did not take away from the burger at all.

I completely agree with Micheal. It's hard to compare a gourmet burger with a regular burger. So far none of the places I've been have been too posh, but the grind is a very different burger and experience than ChuckBox. I should start rating the fancy stuff on a different scale than the classic burgers. Maybe classics get up to 5 PBR bottles and Fancies get up to 5 Stella bottles? LOL

I think I'm hitting up WholeFoods this week on Geoff's suggestion.

I hate that I see people eating good burgers but Im not at the table...
That is all.
#35
LOL. I like the proposed scale, Matt. I had good old nappy In and Out burger today. It was gooooood.

I've been slacking on myupdates. I added my trips to whole foods and Catch 22 with pics. I also went to Sandbar this week and had a good burger (southwest Bacon cheeseburger or something like that), but I'm going to keep the main page limited to non-chain type places going forward. The list of places to go is already out of control, I am almost out of room on my wall at work.

Whole Foods - 2.5 PBRs - I was dissappointed, maybe I had set my expectations too high. The daily special is a good deal, but not enough to bring me back anytime soon.

Catch 22 - 4 PBRs - really good, 1lb of burger with bacon, egg, and cheese on top. I will definitley go back again.

Sandbar - 3.5 PBRs - good burger. here's a pic since it didn't make "the list"

I think it's time to admit I have a problem. I have had 4 burgers in the last 5 days. One day I had 2 burger meals. The only good news is I declined a burger lunch one day because the line was too long.

I was in NY last week for work. I usually take the opportunity to try a new burger anytime I travel. Even though I was on Manhattan, I kept it low class and avoided most of the posh places.

Monday was the Bears and Lions on MNF, so I ended up at a bar called Mudville 9. They have a great selection of burgers and beers. I chose the BBQ burger without BBQ and a West Coast IPA. I enjoyed both. Wish I could say I enjoyed the game. :(

Some friends at work told me my burger quest should take me to the Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridian hotel up near central park. I couldn't argue so I took the subway uptown to check it out. I walked into the lobby of this fancy hotel and thought I might be in the wrong place, but a small neon sign guided me behind a dark curtain and into a dump of a burger place that made me feel right at home. It's a small menu of burgers and fries, with the option of a brownie. I started with the brownie while I waited for my food and began to worry. I am almost as much a brownie conosuier and this thing was bad. I took 2 bites and lobbed it into the trash. The fries were nothing exciting but way better than the papre mache brownie I started with. I was starting to doubt my friends, thinking this was some horrible place they send tourists to. One bite of the burger and all was right with the world again. It was great meat that was nice and juicy without too much to interupt the
flavor. If I go back, I'll just get 2 burgers and skip the other sides.

My flight was delayed and since I didn't want to passout from starvation on the 5hour flight I grabbed a quick burger ar the airport during breakfast hours. I got the Semi-Serious burger with bacon from cheeseburger cheesburge which is an east coast chain. This express version was ok, not as good as the actual made when you order place.
2.5 stars

Friday night we took the kids to some fall carnival at my daughters school. Afterwards we stopped at McDonald's with our friend David's family. I had heard about a secret MacManimus burger and David was game to tackle it with me. It is basically a BigMac with double quarter pounder patties, which you may need to know when ordering. Apparently not everyone at the register is up on all the secret lingo. the MacManimus is better than a big mac because it has better proportions. I don't think I would say it was better than a 2QPw/C, but maybe next time I'll add bacon.
2.5 PBRs

I would say I should take a week off, but we all know that won't happen. :D

Nice updates. I wish jason's deli made a burger.
Chris and I have eaten at bueno a few more times. Still good stuff
#39
Bob and I ate after church at Harvey's Wine Burger. It wasn't bad but nothing stood out. Yelp lists good reviews for out. Good place to see a game at but no real reason to go back

I had heard of that place, I guess I don't need to try it anytime soon.

Are those onion rings? Were they any good?
