Gunfight in Afghanistan kills Iowa soldier, wounds another
#1
This is very sad. Please say a prayer for their families.

My brother has been stationed with these guys for the last year in Panjshir, Afghanistan. There was a group of 10 guys stationed at this base training the local police force. My brother with 8 others departed for home around June 20th. These 2 guys were left behind for a few more weeks and then were to be shipped home also. From what I heard, they stopped to see if a local man on the road side needed help and he opened fire on them.

Wow... sorry to hear that, V. We will be praying for their families and friends. That's sobering.

Photo and quote taken from Russell Bossard's FB page.

Lost a soldier and a civilan brother in arms from our small team the other day, and one wounded. Reguardless of what you may hear on the news they stopped to see if the guy needed help and he opened fire. We were about 15 minutes behind and treated them and got them on the medivac while arguing with the Afghans about what they wanted us to do... It's a long story and could have been much worse.

Sorry to hear. It never makes sense for some reason or another. Anyone who's been in those situations asks til their dying day
"Why him and not me?" Only God knows my friend, why.

Another article focusing on Eipperle who survived. My brother is one of the 6 solders mentioned in the 7th paragraph.
