SunFlower Mine Trail 4-29-11
#1
Again, thanks for coming out guys! here a couple pictures, more soon.

Well, Our day started off at the Chevron at Fort Mcdowel at 7am, made our way to the trail and headed up! Two ZJs, two TJs, and two Ford F250s. Didn't take long for the Fords to realize they were on the wrong trail...just to big so they turned around while they still could and made their way back. The rest of us continued on our way. Other then a little body damage to my jeep and Alan running out of gas, nothing else horrible happened that I know of! Weather was beautiful, company couldn't have been better and the jeeps were running good. Enjoy the pictures :) I believe Mike will be adding more in the next couple days as well. I need some action shots of the Grand

Coming down into the first part of the creek... beautiful area.

Bill making his way through the creek

Waitin for everyone.

Tougher part of the trail, unless of course you have Alans jeep.. :)

This is where the Fords turn around, they got scared and rightly so... very good idea.

Great pics Daniel. Thans for posting them. Looking forward to seeing mikes pics

That trail is my nemesis. It took out my front diff, drivers side axle, t-case and rear diff on my 2005 Xterra. Not a fun day for me. Looks like y'all had fun. Great pics.

You know, my take away from this trip is that is doesn't matter what size jeep you have, how much you can break, what club you are in, or what obsacles you can or cannot make... it's really about having a great time with great friends. We saw buggies on trailers, chromed out mall crawlers, folks from the VJC, folks who have built jeeps and folks who would look at us longingly from their passenger cars as we went by them in a rattling blaze of dusty glory and sweat... and it was all good. Thanks again for setting up this trip, Daniel... it was just what I needed: time outside with good friends, killing the day in the lesser traveled and lesser known part of the AZ

Here are some of my pics from the day. Mostly looked at the butt of Russ's rig, but the rest of the view was magnificent! LOL It was a scenic trail with enough creeks and rock gardens to keep it challenging and interestng.

Video to come later as it processes.

Quck shot of Russ's carnage. Bob and were praying him home. Thanks for answering "affirmative", Lord.

There were three fellas out running beind us. Nice guy named "Dave" and a couple of his friends. I carded Dave, so I hope he finds his way here and posts up pics of his day too.

mmmmm magic flags...

You also had to watch out for bears that would rummage through your pick-in-nick basket, BooBoo

We also had a game of "this way or that way" between Mike and Daniel... um, Mike got to ride in the front seat coming back from Daniel's Dead End (which turned out to be a good place for poser pics...)

This cave ate Mike...

We fed the homeless guys and they followed us home..

We tried to syphon gas out of Bob's rig since mine ran out when we got back to airdown. I never want to do that again, but thank you for the effort and the ride, Bob. I had a great time everyone.

Great pictures Alan! Thanks for sharing bud. This trip just got me pumped for Colorado :)
#12
Thanks Avis for setting this up and to all the drivers.
I told you I'd only post two photos so here they are

#13
Pretty sure you need to post more! I know you got some good action shots of the Grand.....

Here is a "highlight reel" I let the video editing software make... it's kinda from the dash cam point of view of my Jeep, so there is a lot of the back of Russ's Jeep.

In this one, I took all the video I had (raw) up until the camera died, sped it up 5 x's, and took an hour of film down to 12 minutes. Phish was the only 12 minute song I had. Enjoy! LOL

Now, I know this is a wheelin' thread, so if this needs to be moved to another section, I understand... but while we were out wheelin' Sunday, there was a sighting and ensuing hunt of the elusive Orange Headed Mountain Ninja...

After hearing noises in the forrest, we had to investigate. Someone had caught a glimpse...

We assembled a crack team of mountain men, trackers, small children who can sense fantasy creatures, and a tatooed pointer guy who was also a good dancer and set forth in search of the magical creature...

We looked DEEP into caves...

Some members of the pack decided to strike a pose (there's nothing to it)

#17
Thanks for the vids Alan. The 5x speed one is fun :)
#18
We searched North, South, and East (the person taking the picture was supposed to search West, but alas, he did not...)

The mountain man tracker thought he heard a noise coming from deep within the balloon tires!

but no... it was nothing.

It was decided that the lunch was needed, so wisdom was sought through filling our inner peace...

We did find a little hobbit who lived in a not so tidy hobbit hole...

...but then our mighty mountain man made a significant discovery that would change all our lives... for ever...

"It's over here" he said...

"Down here was the sight of an epic battle between good and evil..."

#19
"All that remains from the battle are these charred and rusted reminders of that legendary day..."

"I believe it went something like this..."

After the epic retelling of the mightly teddy bear unicorn Battle of Sharn... we knew there was only one way to capture the elusive Oranged Headed Mountain Ninja...

DANCING POINTER MAN!

the Epicosity of Dancing Pointer Man enticed the lively Oranged Headed Sprite from his nestled wooded lair where we then made friends with him, bonding over our love of Orange and pictures of Jeeps with people in the foreground, talking...

The End. :))

"Wildflowers", by Tom Petty (oddly enough, off the album entitled, "Wildflowers". LOL)
