Highline
#1
Quick question, how big of tire can you run after the highline fender mod on a stock suspension? Plan on starting it next month, don't want to get crazy just to run 33". Thanks

I wouldnt go too crazy if you dont have lower gear ratio in the diffs. 33'S require at least 4.10's. I wouldn't recommend running any larger if you have any higher than 3.73's. You will experience tranny issues within a few thousand miles.

Offroadaz and I did the mentioned Highline on his but he already had 3.5" of lift.
With the highline you'll gain 3" of clearance so I'd say given that a 3" susp lift would allow the use of 33's, the 3" from the highline would do the same.
After the HL, 35's fit with ease on his and the Yellowsub while they were running 33's before. And they still have more room if they wanted to go a little bigger.
Maybe just as a precaution, after you do it all, flex it out with your new 33's on and make sure your bump stops are where they need to be, not limiting or allowing too much flex/droop.

33's won't hurt you on gearing. If you have the money and notice too much HP drop, do them then.

Unless you have 3.07 like I did. Then you will be sloooow

First thanks for the quick replies. I'm trying to fill in my profile so...what I didn't say is a have a 2006 Rubicon. I already have 4.10 gears and overdrive disconnect switch so I don't think gearing will be a problem, just running 33" tires. Now correct me if I'm wrong ...if I just do the Highline, then I don't need to extend the bump stops. You only need to do this with a suspension lift. I just plan on doing the Highline no suspension lift and running run 33" tires so... I don't think I should have any tire rubbing, correct?. Again thanks for the help.

You shouldn't have any rubbing. I was just adding that step as a disclaimer for just in case (would 35's fit? Probably, if stops were added). You're essentially doing the equivalent of a body lift. When I did my BL, I was able to remove the suspension lift included bump stops.
You're going to have (and love) tons of new room to play with once finished. 8)

I also have a 2006 Rubicon and went with the TNT fenders. I still have my origional fenders in the attic. Just in case you need a spare fender or two....You should have no problem fitting 33s with a highline mod and no lift. Good cutting!

Gents thanks for the tips, help and answering my questions. Again great site and I'll let you know how it goes.

Skatchkins, one more question. I'm was gathering up some metal for brackets, taking measurements ect, tonight and just came across a problem. My A/C line runs along the passenger fender, did you have this problem (it looks like you did it in the photo) and if so what was your fix? Thanks

Yep. Just coerce them gently up. We did it slowly and they took the hint and moved just fine. After you've achieved enough clearance, put some pipe insulation on them so you never have to worry about them rubbing through.

Thanks I thought so, I'm going to try to use a tube bender for brake lines and hope for the best. I would love to use the stock airbox but don't see a way, I know you replaced yours. Again thanks
