First thing to do is buy some basic sites. Im looking at the Magpul MBUS sites

Rear

Front

Amazon sells both for $97 which seems reasonable. Once those are on Ill get a feel for the rifle and figure out what type of optics Ill add on. My entire experience with rifle sites consists of what I learned from playing COD :))

Oohh... nice rifle!!! FYI: to use BOTH of those sights, the rail on the gas block needs to be at the same height as the rail on the receiver. From the pic it looks like the gas block is sitting a "bit" lower than the receiver. Hard to tell, as the picture is not very clear. Put a level on it, or stand the rifle upside down on a smooth flat surface (kitchen counter) and see if the rail on the gas block matches up with the rail on the receiver.

If they don't, you can still use the rear sight. You'll just need a front sight that is made for standard gas blocks. They are very common, so it shouldn't be a big deal. Just a bit pricier than the Magpul front sight, since they are made of metal.

Fulton Armory makes two that are compatible with the shorter gas blocks. It's the "TITAN Series".

They make two versions. One with a standard sight post and the other is a National Match "NM" front sight post. The price is $60 and $70 respectively. They also sell the Magpul rear sight for $58.

Also, be sure to break that barrel in correctly so it will be more accurate. The MFG's recommendation is below.

What is your break in process?
We recommend cleaning the bore every round for 25 rounds and every tenth round for an additional 100 rounds. Use a bore brush or bore snake with either CLP or solvent.

You're going to have to follow my lead and get a wider camera lens to get it all to fit.
That out of frame stuff is just so low budget for you now.

Did you get out and shoot this yet? You need to post a current pic of the bad boy and give us a range report!

Finally had a chance to go out shooting last weekend. Mike and me headed out at 6am for a little fun

Brought the AR, the handguns and a few shotguns. I wasn't sure what to expect from a .308 as far as recoil goes. I was a little surprised that it was easier to manage and had less kick than the 12 gauge shotgun. I still have no idea how you would shoot it full auto, with the amount of kick it does have, it seems like it would be really hard to control

We only got out to about 40yards for distance but the rifle was very accurate with the iron sites. Hopefully I can get out to ben avery soon so I can take some longer shots

Overall pretty happy with it

Very cool! Where did you go out to shoot at?

about 8 miles past lake pleasant on the north side of the road. Theres a decent wash in there with some shooting spots that others have used

Ah. I've been there. Did you see all the red fire extinguishers out there? Someone brought them out there and shot them up, but left a few unshot. We didn't know so when I fired my .308 into one of the good ones, it blew up in a fountain of white powder. It was pretty wicked!

went out again today and put 60 rounds downrange

My arm is sore lol. Got a decent bruise on my shoulder, must not have been holding it tight enough

Friend brought his POF with a huge muzzle brake on it. He was shooting 556, it didnt jump at all and had almost no kick. Made it very easy to do followup shots

Wonder what I can do to get mine like that? After shooting his I really want to redo the trigger on mine so its lighter too

Well, there is a big difference between a 223 and a 308. 223 really has no kick. A 308 is pretty mild, especially when you're holding it properly. Ha Ha. As for the lighter trigger pull, look for the JP Enterprise spring kit. I don't know if anyone sells it locally, but here it is on MidwayUSA.Com. They have a nice sale on their rifle cases right now. I just spent $700 there buying reloading crap, shooting mats, and gun cases. Note: The spring kit will reduce the speed of the hammer, so you may experience light primer strikes. This is only a concern if you are shooting military surplus ammo (or bulk Russian stuff).

The better option would be to upgrade to a 2-stage trigger. DPMS currently has them on sale for $93.00 as a full kit.
