Martinez Canyon, Cokes, and Gilla - last shot Dec 2 - 3
#1
All right HG'ers.

I've already found that we are all free for this and that it's Chris's short wknd at work.

I really want to get us out there for some of our last chances at calendar pics.

Not just one Jeep, not just two, but all three.
Prepare to camp in the canyon.

Calendar pic from last year. Great shot but oh so lonely.

I am so excited. I wanna camp in the cave! Plus, we've gotta add onto the selection of calendar pics!

The last Martinez trip was awesome an cant wait for this one. The last time we went there I did not have a Jeep, just my 4x4 Nissan truck. This time I am really excited about going down the louge.

We had a really good time with it just being Chris, Mike and I, but I am also really looking forward to having a couple of the wo-man there.

Last time we did only have one Jeep and it was OK just for the 3 of us, but with more people going it is a must for us to at least Jeeps and would be a great reunion trip if Chris' was up and runnen buy the time we left.

Well, we will see you all in a couple weeks, lets meet in the whore house. I will have Mike explaine that one to you.

Ha! Silly 4x4 Nissa... wait, nevermind.

I hate to burst your bubble Special J, but techinically, that mud slide we took wasn't The Luge. It was only the bypass! Apparently the Luge, looking down hill from our path, is on the left and pretty much can't be done w/o being tied off.

Ah yes, the "Whore House." Apparently the caved out area we camped in that also had the cut out and doored spider infested small minelike area, was indeed where the harlets or concubines, if you will, hung out waiting for the miners to come back home to in the olden days.

Maybe around the camp fire, Steve can tell us how it was to live in those ancient times.

Im sure Steve would love to tell us but remember the temp will be below 85 so he will have to sit this one out.

Here's what I'm thinking thus far:

Saturday we get out of town and head down
Cottonwood Canyon Road and then get our-
selves nice and tucked up into Martinez Canyon.
We can set up camp at the same place we did
last time.

Sunday morn we run Martinez Canyon and I
try to see how far I can annoy people with
photo ops. We'll do the switchbacks up to
summit & mines but since the majority of us
have explored the mines and all of its entirety,
I don't see us spending too long there.

What I hope is to Luge on down, and then take
the Coke Oven trail out to the Gilla. Stop for the
obligatory beehive pic with the Jeeps, and then
hop skip and jump to the nearby river for some
river crossings. Not promising anything snorkel
worthy but you never know. Ought to get a few
good pics though driving the river.

Last Martinez run.

That all sounds great to me, I really like the part a Luge it on down. There is one thing I am not sure of, is this a dog worthy trip or should I leave them at home? I just hate leaving them and I really dont know who would watch them.
#8
I think this is a homeward bound trip for them.

BTW, I talked with Steve and he is 90% in. Told him we ciuld use an extra camera man and how it was actually warm in the "cave" with the fire going.
#9
I will keep the doggies at home, if possible try and help me findsome to watch them.

Yes it was very warm in the cave with the fire. I didnt even get into my sleeping bag till the fire went out, then it got really cold. Did you hear that Steve, "really cold". Just kidding, you will be fine

is that the spot with the spider mine, where the walls looked like they were moving because of all the bugs?
#11
That be it.
#12
we should tell steve its the warmest in there and see if he lasts long with all the crawlies

I noticed that you said we are going on the 18th and 19th of November because everyone is available. Is Jen not part of our group because I told you that she couldnt go.

When Jen told Dana that she couldnt go that weekend, Dana said it was ok and we could go the weekend after that because she wanted her to go. It is the weekend after Thanksgiving and I really dont think anyone has anything going on.

I know that you are tired of waiting and rescheduling but you dont hesitate if Dana or Chris cant make it. Why not push it back just one week so Jen can go, and you know Chris wont have is Jeep done by this weekend anyways.
#15
i cant go the weekend after that, long weekend for work

would have to wait until december for everyone to make it
#16
Is your jeep even going to be ready for this next weekend?
#17
Wohooooo! The weekend we've all been waiting for is almost here!!!!!!!!
