double stamped quarter?
#1
Tried to get a snack from the vending machine today and it kept spitting out my quarter. After settling for some snackwells cookies instead of cheezits I went back to my desk and took a closer look at it

I cant tell if it was stamped wrong at the mint or another quarter was somehow fused to it? Any coin collectors on here with an idea? Here are a few pics

The Washington head is raised up from the rest of the quarter and is smooth to the touch, it does not have any grooves like a normal one

sorry for the cell phone pics but its all I had at work

If it was it'd be worth a lot. From the pics it really looks like somebody just put a coating of glue over it and it's starting to peel off

The smoothed edge is from a filled dye, which also caused the errors behind George's head. The lines are die cracks, small hairline cracks in the die used to stamp the quarters. These errors in small size are common on all state quarters. Yours is a large error and could be worth quite a bit on E-bay or to a private coin collector. Don't sell that to a coin dealer unless you only care to get about half it's value. Coin dealers are like pawn shops. I've only found one in the valley who pays decent prices and he's in Scottsdale.

BTW these are striking errors. Do a google search for "state quarter strike error" if you wanna look into it more. I have a couple state quarter die's if you wanna see what one looks like.
