Immediately. Seriously. Stop what you are doing now. Step away from the computer. Find a RedBox or whatever you use. Watch the movie. Now.

Good stuff Mike. Here's my report;

They say the worst day wheelin is better than the best day at work........ I tested that theory Sunday.... the title should actually only read "Turtle" since we didn't get to Staircase......

On the way up to Payson I lost 2 trailer tires and James needed my other spare cos he lost the tread off one of his trailer tires. We go 10 miles and I lose the spare tire off the trailer again. James takes off to Payson to look or a tire shop while Brad and I put James tire without the tread back on my trailer and we'll see how far we can get..... lasted me to Rye where I stopped and called the towing guy out of bed and bought a POS tire and had it mounted up and we were off to Payson where James found no tires shops open.

Meanwhile we find out that Alan from Higherground4x4 lost a trackbar mount and never made it to Payson.

We proceded to the resturaunt where we were to have breakfast at 0800 and we got there at 1000. everyone (9 other rigs worth) was in the parking lot waiting for us..... We proceded to the trail, Thom's wife was lookin for tire shops for us to get trailer tires after the run.

With 11 rigs headin to the trail it was bound to get better...... Such was not the case.... with all the rain we had last week there was more water in the wash then I had ever seen..... wet tires, wet rocks, mud, sand etc.... make for tricky situations.......

First I slid off a rock and wiped out my rear driveshaft, Brad and TC went back to my trailer to get my spare (Thanks again guys). I removed the broken shaft and proceeded as far as I could in front wheel drive and made it too the waterfall, bypassing all the fun optional lines.....

When I get to the waterfall my rear tire with the plugs let loose and started leaking bad so I through my spare on the left front so I could keep an eye on it and put the LF tire on the RR.....

Meanwhile, Jonathan broke a front axle on one of the optional lines down stream..... Not certain what the repair was but he was stuck with 3 wheel drive for the rest of the day......

We're all at the waterfall and there is 30" of water in the bottom of it but we're gonna give it a shot, spare tire and rear drivershaft and all...... Crawled it

Brad crawled it with his Sticky Krawlers, Charlie and TC took the strap after great efforts....James broke a left front hub or stubshaft and lost a bead on the right front at the same time......We couldn't get the beads to seat so I went back to the trailers to get his spare.....

While I was gone, Jim played on the fall only to break a rear axle shaft.......James got his spare on and we were headin back out...... Jonathan and James fought to get out in 3 wheel drive but we all made it back to the trailers to "try" to head home.....

Brad and I stopped by TC's place to borrow a trailer tire just in case but his trailer is a different size 5 lug pattern......Off we go to come home without a spare trailer tire....... we made it home witout incident other than the usual Phoenix idiot drivers that just cant seem to see us?

Further up stream looking down stream;

And some carnage, opened the u-joint ear right up;

Here's where Brad took TC back to my trailer to get my spare driveshaft and I went up stream as far as I could in front wheel drive while the others played on all the optional stuff that I missed.

We had lunch at the waterfall. Noticed there was alot of water in it. So with my spare tire and my spare driveshaft I thought I'd try;

#31
Brad was next and made it look easy with his damn stickies;

Look at his drivers rear tire, thats a 39.5 Krawler;

#32
Next up was Charlie from Casa Grande;

Surf;

Popped a hub or stub shaft and a bead at the same time;
#33
TC's turn;

Just about got the top wet here;

#34
Jim had a turn too;

And Jim popped a rear 60 axle
#35
Fatbob trying a new line;

While waiting for me to get back with Surf's spare tire Brad came back down to try the optional line;

Got some vids of this (later) but he the sand was too much for the stickies here ......

From here it was a couple of ledges and alot of diff-dodging and we were done...... never made it to Staircase because of the late start and the amount of time spent on Turtle.

Well the trail looks awesome, but me having weekdays off a weekend run takes an act of God, literally. I have to say, since we hold each other accountable, the response I got to my question was offending though. No where in the forum rules or other intro posts did someone say, "We don't share trail locations, so don't ask." I get to wheel weekdays, usually alone or with a select few non believers I know, so I thought I might share a new trail. If someone can send me a PM with where that is, I would appreciate it.

To everyone else, I am sorry I apparently broke cardinal rule you have, by the way, if that is public land, better to share and take care of it than to keep a secret and never know why when and if it gets closed. I have learned, this is not a forum open to sharing.

Nice write up, Sy.

No public 4 wheeling forum that I know of will tell you where a trail is for all the public to read..... especially so the environmentalists that lurk on all these sites can learn where these trails are to alert land use managers and/or deliberately sabotage the area in hopes the blame will be put on us wheelers and get it shut down.......I am one of the few that opened this trail, it is on public land, we are working with the land managers to maintain access. Also we dont want a bunch of lesser built rigs on the trail paving or earing it up with open diffs, breaking parts in doing so like so many other trails have seen.

My personal rule is I have to know you well enough to trust you and trust that detailed locations will not be revealed. When and if the day comes that I trust you you will be invited to the trail as these guys were. Then you will learn the location of the trail and you too will be reminded to keep the location quiet. For the above mentioned reasons. Besides, I have been scouting the area for years to find new trails I am not just going to let the 4 wheelin world know where they are just like that..... So its not this board, Its me, the damn Toyota guy that is being selfish. Go on to Pirate4x4 and ask where a trail is and see the responses..... you think I'm an A-hole?

Also that clip from the movie that was posted up? A map won't do you any good in this case.

Well worded response Sy

No one's mad atcha (heck Bill still asks the question over and over). It's just one of those recurring questions that everyone has a preprogrammed response to. Like "What tires size will fit..." or "You don't know me but I think you're daughter is good breeding stock." Same thing comes about if anyone asks "where a cave is."

Adding a sticky thread post in the Trail Info forum about this seems like a good idea. I will work on that.

First off, I don't think you are any foul thing, including the afore mentioned bowel, I pray i never come across thinking that of anyone. I just thought as Christians we tell each other when we are offended, so I was telling you.

As for trails, I understand not posting it, and I will never go to pirate or many other 4x4 sites for the flaming. I frequent UCORA, expo, and here. Usually, I am successful at keeping in friendly places.

Anyway, sorry to have made you mad, hopefully I will earn your trust some time, Pyeatt draw is a great trail up there and I wondered if this was diffrent, another good one in the area would be nice. Anyway, lesson about this site learned, see you on the trails some time.
