upgrade failed

so I tried to upgrade the forum to a newer version because of the amount of spam we have been getting lately

long story short, the upgrade from vbulletin had an error in the code, I had to manually edit the php files to even get a forum running again

there are still errors and you may get occasional php script problems

I need to upgrade to version 4.1 but our license is expired and it costs $195 for the newest working version. Were short on club funds at the moment due to the upfront costs we spent on calendar printing. If the calendars sell we should have enough to cover the license cost. So please try to promote those sales and buy extras for your family, friends, co-workers, random people on the street

How did you get upgraded to 4.0? They changed their licensing when that came out. If you got on 4.0.4, you should be able to upgrade to 4.1. If you have questions about upgrade errors, you can bounce them off me. I've recently become an expert on upgrading VBulletin after a failed attempt on the 4x4ham forum.

Also, I found this online VBulletin Manual very helpful in understanding what exactly I was doing while upgrading.

our license expired. No funds to renew it

Just charge it to Michael's credit card.

Ahh, I see now. We started with 4.0 as a new install. On upgrades, it's "(*Free until current license expires)", so that's how you got upgraded to 4.0.4. I mistakenly understood it that once you upgraded to 4.0+ you had free upgrades for all 4.x versions. The way they changed the license, I don't think that I'll have to pay again until 5.x comes out.
