So I pretty much melted my engine in my Jeep... She still runs, poorly, but the repairs would be nearly the same price as if I was to just drop a new engine into her.

My question is: where should I go if I want a new (and/or warrantied) 318 V8 with more power? My spending limit is around $2000, but I'd like to get an engine with iron heads to help avoid this problem in the future.

Anyone got any ideas? I need to get my truck back to drivable condition again soon.

I used these guys 6 yrs ago. they did great work and the price was very reasonable (but I pulled the motor, took it apart, put it back in etc.).

Thanks for the reference, I plan on doing the work myself, too (can't afford to have someone else do it, anyway).

So, I'm still shopping around, and I've come across a company by the name of Pro Performance Engines. Does anyone have any experience with, or heard anything, about them?
