Clutch Problems
#1
My clutch went out last week on the CJ, fluid leaking out of the slave cylinder.
I'm thinking easy fix, so I swap in a new slave cylinder and go to bleed the lines. But the pedal got super stiff and the slave cylinder ended up popping, all the fluid leaked out again.
I have a feeling that something is wrong with the clutch fork, maybe it's binding or something. Does that sound right, any other thoughts?

I really don't want to drop the tranny but not sure what else it could be......

I have to ask... does it have gas?

I wonder if you have something in the line? Did the slave cylinder slide into place with no problem?

 yes it has gas. It's semi-drivable in 1st you just can't shift or stop.

not sure what you mean by the cylinder sliding into place. It's an external cylinder like this. The rod pushed directly on the clutch fork

I'll know more on Mon/Tues
But I took it to the shop because I didn't want to drop the tranny myself.
In short the pivot ball is missing completely, so the clutch fork was leveraging off of the bell housing instead of the pivot ball. This made the throw out bearing and what ever else is in there cock slightly to the side and over time fuse to the shaft. The whole thing apparently seized up and then shattered.
I'm hoping for best case scenario and we only have to replace the damaged parts but we have to be able to find the parts first.....
