Bypass the Electoral College system ?
#1
It seems like a good idea but since it came from the Dems I wonder what the twist is? Whats wrong with picking the prez by national popular vote?

The Massachusetts Legislature has approved a new law intended to bypass the Electoral College system and ensure that the winner of the presidential election is determined by the national popular vote.

horrible idea

states like california, new york and others will have the most power. Small states like montanna will be essentially meaningless

How so? If each vote counted for each person why would Montanna count any less?

still comes down to population density.. Why would I bother campaigning and making promises to a state thats only contributing 2 or 3 percent of the vote? Id spend my time in the big states that give me the most votes.

Hmmm. I'm guessing because each state is its own entity with its own ideals or is that too simplistic?

I must be missing something... When I was reading the idea behind it, it seemed like an ok idea. Return the vote to the people. However, everyone seems to think that CA NY FL and a few other states would rule the vote... Isn't that how it is now?
