Florence Junction 5/12/2010 ~ Axle Alley (AA)
#1
OK. I'll get this thread started. We had a GREAT day of wheelin. Elvis, Ecstasy (X), and Axle Alley (AA). Since there was so much action on each trail, I'm writing each one up individually so folks can add pictures and we can keep the trails straight!

We met at 7 AM off Price Rd. Five vehicle, ready for adventure: Cecil, Showboat, themud (Daniel), Alanzona, and tloran (Todd and Dez). We ran Elvis first, then moved on to Ecstasy on the way to Axle Alley.

I agree with Jonathan. I think Axle Alley is my new favorite trail now too. In addition to being just a fun, challenging, technical trail, this trip also featured Showboat's rig catching FIRE and me flopping in a notch and then driving it out. Let the games begin! themudd had to head home, so AA consistend of Cecil, Showboat, and me.

For a full write up of this great trail, reference Mike's write up from the previous trip.

I'm going to get to our pics and the adventure...

and we're off.. Cecil inthe lead, Showboat in the mid, and I'm tail gunning.

right off the bat, Cecil feels the need to park on a boulder! I still don't know how he got on this, but it took a bit to get him up and over the rock backwards. Fortunately, no damage.

Moving on up the trail... nice and tight drive lines. Technical in your choice of line.

Um, you want me to climb what?!?!?! this picture soooo doesn't do it justice to how high and hard this fall is...

Welcome to the first fall. Cecil is attempt number 1 and took the winch right up.

Better hurry, Geoff's going to eat you

now Showboat's turn. He's gong to try to climb it, then winch if needed

this fall is so easy, Geoff can do it with his eyes closed...

Now, in all fairness, Geoff pretty much climbed this unassisted...

that is, right up until the part where his Jeep burst into flames and he lost momentum. LOL

A hose clamp came off the power steering line and the fluid caught fire. Everyone was quick with the extinguishers and Showboat was not the worse for wear

soooo.... since we were repairing Showboat on the fall, I decided to pull my rig up a little further, you know, just to get ready for the fall.

Um. I flopped it in the notch. All the guys heard was "boom!" and they came running.

with some direction from Geoff and some laughing from Cecil. I drove it out of this, though! Dented the door and lost the driver rear glass, but other than that, good to go! let's wheel some more.

so, after all that excitement, you want me to climb what again?

This thing?!?!?! Really?

Um, OK. (i winched up along with Cecil, just for the record)

onward!

Great pics Alans camera. Sorry i didnt get any better ones of the flop, but in my defence your head popping out of the passenger side window asking for a "SPOT" I was still LMAO. All in all a great freaking day.

Again again great pics and write-up! You had to show the boulder? That makes me emotional! This particular AA run was full of excitement. The fire just about popped my eyes out of my head.

Dude, you gifted the RIGHT tail light two years ago. It is still intact. I respect, brother. I respect.
