Jeep didn't pass emissions
#1
Took ol' Betsy in to pass emissions and she didn't pass. She is a 74 CJ5

I passed the Load test with flying colors. HC 256 and CO .39 but the idle test I bombed. HC 593 (standard 400) and CO 6.91 (standard 5.00). Anyone have any ideas. I could use some.

I can't remember but there is a law statute posted on the side of the billing addressing just this scenario. Seriously. I had 20 min to read it. I wonder if a crisp 5 dollars will make a diffence.:)=)

Explain further.:?:

did it with my wifes mustang. get your gas down to about a 1/8 tank and then add a quart or two of rubbing alcohol. it burns different and will bring down the emission levels. mustang blew the first test and then passed the second test.

Bummer dude. Looks like it's time to head to Walgreen's for some Isopropyl Alcohol.

It passed. Alcohol wouldn't have helped. The carb was way out of tune. I took it to Carburetors Unlimited. I paid 30 bucks and he put it on his machine and tune the carb. Runs like a top now.

Wish I could but I work Friday night. Scott + no sleep = lots of damage and possible bodily harm to Jeep and Scott.

Sissy pants. :p I doubt I'm gonna sleep at all the night before my 1st run with the 'new' rig.8)
