russ's gas pipeline 1/22/10
#1
i got off work early and red asked to go out to try out her new parts. i figured that with all the weather of late maybe the gas pipeline trail would be a good and safe run. the weather was nice to start. to the noerth west i saw snow coming down. to the south west another front was moving in and it started to look nasty. travel a little while and headed east to check out the valley and saw that there had been massive amounts of water flowing and making the ground very soft. i decided to turn around when about 2-3 inches of mud were caking my tires.

here are a few pics to start with.

traveled south and it started to rain and also pea size hail with very strong winds. this is when i came up to my first stream of water that was flowing pretty good. it really had been flowing before because it carved out a new trail. past that i found i nice gouge in the trail and when i entered it i slid a full tire length to the side and thought i was going to be getting my side a little dirty but i slid through ok.

the skys looked nasty again but the sun started peeking through and the rain had stopped. on to the tunnel and the water was about 2" deep. made it through here fine and over the next couple of hills and then i came upon the raging river wash which said "i don't think i am going to allow you to pass today" and i said no probs since i was alone and i didn't want to be on the news being featured as a stupid motorist or 4 wheeler. turned back and ran it backwards just fine. i was back at the staging area and an old friend i used to work with pulled in to take some pics of the area. hadn't seen them for about two years and it was a neat surprise. fun trip and the whole trail has really changed. can't wait to get into some other areas after it drys up some.
