So the HD is going and its going fast... I looked online and it seems like a swap is something I could do.. I'm going to pick up a external for now so I can back up all my stuff.

I bought a TB external HD for $120 bucks while back... I can back up anything I want. Not a bad price for the amount of storage I have. I keep it in my safe so if I was ever to lose the computer in a fire or something I'd still have all my stuff

Thats what I am thinking... Not to mention I bring the laptop to all the long trips so Mike can save his pics each day and we can post some teaser "wish you were here" shots.

Yeah, I'd go with that if I were you. I think I got mine at bestbuy, I could store 4 of my computers on it if need be so you'll have plenty of room for all those pictures! :) Good investment if ya ask me.

I had that problem before too with my laptop. Back up a must and fry's usually has really go prices on new drives. I am also planning to buy a couple external tbs since they are under $100 now. You can use it on trips and just have an invertor with you to charge laptop and run external. I have a 350 watt in the jeep now. That is also how i powered my xmas lights:)=)
