TMAC = Table Mesa Area Coalition
#1
Hi All,

My name is Shar. I am a fellow outdoor enthusiast and part of TMAC = Table Mesa Area Coalition. We have formed this group to try and help save the Table Mesa Recreational Area. We are working with BLM and other off-road/outdoor clubs/groups in a joint effort to clean the trails and educate people so we don't lose this large area that many people use for wheeling, camping, shooting, hiking and other outdoor activities.

We could use your help. We have a few events coming up and you are all invited. The first step in our mission is to determine where we start our clean-up process. We have a pre-cleanup meeting planned for October 4, 2009. We will meet at the air down spot on Table Mesa Road. From there we will break into groups and head out in different directions to scope out a variety of areas. This is to help pin point exactly what will be needed for the upcoming clean up. From there we will meet for a social meeting at Rock Springs Café. There we can discuss the area and make some final decisions on what we need to have happen for the clean up date.

The clean up date is October 24, 2009. We need all the man power we can get. We hope to have sponsorship for the event. Planning to have some food and refreshments also provided. Please come help us and show some support in keeping our lands open and clean for future use.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Thanks Shar, weve helped out on several of the cleanups out there in the past, hopefully we can help out with this one too. Any word yet if the people from AZ Shooting and other gun groups will be out there helping? Last couple of cleanups we participated on we spent the majority of time picking up old targets, shotgun shells and brass

No word yet but we are trying. We would like to find someone in the shooting /gun area who might be able to help with the clean up and to educate the public about safe shooting in the desert. Also looking to develope a way for shooters to recover their shells and targets so they are disposed of in an exceptable manner.

Thank you for all your support

I'm down and i'll try and round up help. We have to act if we want to keep these areas open.

Shar,

Talk to the Good Gun Club here in Phx. Also might want to reach out to the NRA local chapter. They are always interested in working with us on cleanups. This fits right in with our standard schedule of cleanups every October and April out at TM. Have you all been in contact with Phoenix BLM and also the OHV Ambassadors group from State Parks yet?

WHAT ABOUT ALSO MAKING THIS A MEDIA EVENT AND HAVE TV AND PAPER OUT THE COVERING WHAT WE ARE DOING TO KEEP THESE AREAS CLEANED UP. THIS WOULD BE A GREAT TIME TO SHOW THEM WHAT WE ARE AND WHAT WE DO.
YES IT CAN BE A DOUBLE EDGE SWORD BECAUSE THEN THE TREE HUGGERS MAY WANT THEIR SIDE THROWN IN.
THIS WOULD BE A GREAT TIME FOR ALL THE CLUBS THAT USE THESE AREAS TO GET OUT AND SHOW THE PUBLIC WE ARE THE ONES WHO CLEAN THESE AREAS AND WANT TO KEEP THEM OPEN. IT WILL SHOW THAT WE ARE WILLING TO GO THAT EXTRA MILE WHILE OUR GOVERNMENT STILL REFUSES TO AT LEAST GET A BALENCED BUDGET FOR OUR STATE LET ALONE PASS BILLS TO HELP US RATHER THEN THEMSELVES.
TRLGRL SOUND LIKE A GREAT SPOKESPERSON OR MAYBE EVEN CHRIS (IF ANYTHING YOU CAN WOW THEM WITH THAT SMILE OF HIS WHICH IS EVEN BIGGER NOW THAT MEGAN IS PREGGERS:)g))
IF WE DO THIS THERE ARE OTHER AREAS WHICH ARE JUST AS BAD OR WORSE AND MAYBE WE CAN HAVE DIFFERENT GROUPS GO TO DIFFERENT AREA. PEOPLE IN THAT HAVE TRAILS IN THEIR AREA CLEAN THOSE AND SO FORTH. I REMEMBER LAKE PLEASANT WAS HORRIBLE IN AREAS AND THAT HAS A LOT TO DO WITH OTHERS OUT THERE HAVING PARTYS AND NOT CLEANING UP AFTER THEMSELVES. I KNOW IT IS NOT JUST THEM BECAUSE YOU DO SEE PARTS AND STUFF OFF OF VEICHLES THAT SHOILD HAVE BEEN PICKED UP BY THOSE OUT THERE DOING THE TRAILS.
SORRY I AM STEPPING OFF MY PODIUM NOW:red|

I'm sure some of you remember when Channel 3 interviewed me last year up at TM for a desert dumping piece. I've already told Shar that I can try to contact Steve Bodinet again and see if he'd be interested doing a follow up piece. I've also been in contact with Shaun McKinnon with the AZ Republic over the years for different Coalition pieces. Damn now that I think about it I get punked on camera or print every time they call us.

Hmmm... I've always thought of you more as a radio face

Hi Dozzer, I sent you a PM sometime ago about trying to contact Steve Bodinet again to see if he'd be interested in doing a follow up piece. I am not sure you ever got it. I hadn't heard back from you there so I thought I would just post. Can you see if he wants to come out for the clean-up? I would greatly appreciate the assistance in getting the media out there. Let me know. Thanks
