The Geoff Larson H2H Celebration Run 10-3-09
#1
I hope the irony of running Highway to Hell (H2H) at Florence Junction as a "bachelor party" isn't lost on anyone. }:)

So: October 3rd, 2009 will be the Geoff Larson H2H Celebration Run to commemorate the last weekend our dear friend (othewise known as "Showboat") will be running trails as a single guy.

Meet at the Flagpole at 7 AM and prepare for a full day of whellin'! (If you camp, that's up to you, but its not a part of this run officially.)

I suspect we will have two groups of rigs... those that want to drive theirs home and those who do not, so I propose a dual run.

Run one will be short and sweet (like the last of Geoff's single days) that everyone can run. Upper Woodpecker type stuff.

Then, we can split into the "H2H Carnage Crew" and the "while we're out here, let's run something cool crew" to keep the size of the groups down, the fun up, and the carnage to a minimum. If this group gets too big, we'll split into two smaller H2H groups...

Specs for the H2H Carnage Crew: Body Armor, Locked, 33's, no fear of body damage.

Specs for the Run Something Cool Crew: a Jeep, some mods, and a willingness to celebrate Geoff mind set.

We will determine, based upon equipment, who is running what while we are at the Flagpole. Post up which run you are definately in for doing if you know in advance. If you have questions about equipment or capability, PM me or post up... this crew will let you know which run to take! If the H2H group gets too big, we may split into two waves.

Rock on, have fun, and lets send Geoff off with a bang (that isn't my axle snapping this time...)

Unfortunately I will be unable to attend. I have dad duty while Linda works. She had a last minute change to her schedule.
#3
Sorry, I can't make it Oct. 3.
#4
Wow, sorry to hear that, guys.

Virgil, if you can reschedule, you know we'd love to have you.

defibvt - We'll miss you, buddy. (This is a great example of why we need to get Geoff to go out one more time before he gets married! LOL)

I'll probably be there to pay my respects

I think I'm up for this.. My jeep won't do any of that though lol so I'll just jump in a jeep somewhere. It'd be fun to meet everyone. Because I am the noobie here, I will need directions to the "flag poll"..

I'm there. Don't know if I am apart of the "H2H Carnage Crew" yet. That notch looks really sick in the pics I've seen online. I'll have to see when we get to it. Looking forward to doing LW again though. Count me in.

Done. Looking forward to it.

Soooo anyone want to post up directions? lol

Where you coming from dude?

I'll PM him directions when we get closer, along with a pretty map. Just buried right now. LOL

Take 60 east to 79 S (Florence Junction) I want to say the turn off is about 6 miles down on the left. There is a flag pole and large dirt lot. That is cottonwood canyon road.

Thanks Jack!

On this note, we'll post up a West Side Jeep Parade a little closer to time.

Cool, east side works great for me as I live in Gilbert!

You guys think I should bring my jeep? I'm not familiar with any of the trails out there, I know it won't do H2H but wasn't sure if we were running anything else.
#20
TAKE YOUR JEEP. I'm not sure about H2H, but you can do many other trails in that area without trouble.

You can run Upper Woodpecker just fine. Link to trip report. (Most of the pictures there are of the obstacles. Bypasses not pictured.)
