Chains vs Straps
#1
which is better for strappin a jeep on a trailer? And when I say straps I'm referring to the great big yellow straps.. like semi trucks use

There's a couple schools of thought on this and honestly neither of them are wrong. Say Lance uses chains and binders and straps his to his trailer at the axles. I on the other hand use straps to the frame so I can suck the suspension down and keep the rig from bouncin around on me.

Neither are wrong, just peoples preference.

hmm.. I never thought about strapping it to the frame.. I kinda like that idea.

Chains, they do not stretch and loosen up. They do not cut or wear from rubbing on something. Just my personal preference. I used to use straps, I like the chains a lot better. I also like the axles to chain to. With the body, there is no way I can fully compress the suspension to the bump stops, so there is a possibility of hitting a big bump and have the suspension compress and come loose from the straps. I have lost straps twice while trailering. Never lost or even loosened a chain to the axles. Also, chaining the axles allows the Jeep suspension to help take some of the bumps out of the road, allowing the trailer some relief. I also use 2 chains on the rear axle, and 1 on the front. "X" cross the rears, and "V" the front.

With me towin behind the GC I can't have the rig bobbin around on me. So I crank it down about as far as I can to the bump stops. Fortunately I haven't lost a strap yet on the road. I use 1 strap on each corner.
