This thread needs updating
As of late
Right before we got married, Noel and I were trying to figure out what to do with her old Honda. It shifted funny and the tranny additive did nothing. Then she rearended a truck that decided he was going to stop at a red light after all.
I had just finished paying off my Xterra so I had no more car payments. She was able to get more than BB from the insurance company and we found an 8yr newer Honda at a great price to buy her.
My business that I've worked at doing graphic design and printing for 12yrs was locked out by the landlords. It could no longer keep up with rent during these economic times.
I was able to retrieve all of my customer files, contacts, and some equipment/supplies and have now opened up my own graphic design & printing firm from my house. It's starting out slow, but it's moving.
Someone pulled out in front of me and I hit them at 40+ mph. Their car was unmistakeably demolished but no one was hurt. My vehicle has no visible body damage as all the force originated at my tire and damaged only the frame and front suspension.
Their insurance paid me for the price of my vehicle and allowed me to buy it back.
I have a knowledgeable friend, Geoff, who will work with me replacing the frame and his shop letting me keep my vehicle there.
In looking for a frame to replace mine and not finding much out there, it looked like I would have to buy a 4cyl frame out of state and have it shipped.
I found later that there was one just down the road from the body shop, same year and engine for much cheaper.
My wife decided her non-profit should work with a national sex-traffic victim rehabilitation shelter system. She thought 20k would be the minimum needed to start an art therapy program.
She met her month-long fundraiser goal 2hrs before the end, then exceeded it and and even afterwards found parties interested in investing more into it and it brought interest to her program working with inner city students at Alhambra HS.
During my unsteady un/new employment time, my wife called me and asked if she could quit her only actual job, nannying part time for a friend. It was creating stress between her friend that she worked for and she believed her time would better be spent on her non-profit work. I told her we'd have to talk more about it and see where we were at but I truthfully wasn't sure how we could swing it.
She called back 2hs later to tell me she had found an envelope on her car full of money, of the 4K variety. Luckily she had not driven away with it, but she hadn't thought to look in it when she found it in the morning, she just tossed it on the seat and looked 5hrs later (girl logic :) ) There was no note written with the donater(s) plan for the money. Noel was adamant that it wasn't donated for her program because that can be done anonymously on the website, but "because you lost your job and just totaled your Jeep (yes I let her call it that)." I finally was able to persuade her to give away a sizeable amount to her fundraiser.
