Shackles mounted backward? And just showing off my jeep
#1
Uploaded pics. The shackles lifted it to the point that my old shocks, at extended length, won't fit at what is now resting height. :)=) It makes for an interesting ride with no shocks. Believe me though, they are next on the list; some 27" extended length Fox Emulsions.

Picture of the driver's side shackle. Am I crazy, or should they have been mounted the other direction? Because of the way they're mounted I've already lost a grease fitting for the passenger's side shackle.

The passenger's side tire was completely stuffed. Once I cut the rear fenders I know I can get more flex.

I'm far from a shackle expert, but that doesn't look right to me. I wouldn't think it should be contacting like that.

Yea, its backwards. The spring needs to be able to travel backwards for movement of the spring.

Are those revolver type shackles? Found this pic.

Virgil, they are a revolver type shackle but I don't know the brand (I'm thinking they're home brew.)

Thanks Guys. Looks like I'll be giving Desert Fab a call.:((
Never take anything to a shop if you can do it yourself.

Wow, those are definitely backwards......those will bind up and break a spring that way.

Desert Fab did that install or you are taking it to them to fix?

They did the install along with some 4.10's only because I didn't think I was going to have time to do it before a camping trip (ended up being canceled). To add to the saga I found that while cutting the bottom part of the bumper off to make the shackles fit he went right through the wires for my trailer lights.:(
