picture camera reccomendations
#1
Im starting to look around for a new camera. I liked my old Olympus, it was waterproof, shockproof and pretty well built. Its getting old though 4 years or so and the battery only lasts about 50 pictures before it dies. Also I have some problem with the shutter speed slowing down causing some pics to be blurry

Heres what I want
small
rugged
portable
fast shutter speed
easy to use as a point and shoot but has ability to set features manually
records video

I like the idea of an SLR but they are too big for my needs

ideas?

I really like my Fugi S5700. I think it meets most of your criteria, but it's not tiny/small.

Reasons I bought it: 7.1 Megapixel, 10x optical zoom, menus were easy to figure out in store, took SD card, takes video, has lots of preset camera modes (The landscape mode is what I use most of the time and does awesome.), was under $250 new.

Download Opanda IExif, then look around at other people's pics online like on HikeArizona.com.

Then with it installed, R-Click some pics, select view Exif data and see what camera they were using, if they used software after the fact, etc. Also shows every single other setting too.

It'll give you a good idea what some P&S's can actually do by themselves.
I use that program a good bit myself.

Got it narrowed down between these 2 cameras

Canon Powershot G10 14.7mp
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=17624

And a smaller
Fuji FinePix F200EXR 12mp
http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_cameras/f/finepix_f200exr/features/

Canon has more options for manual control but its not as easy to stash in the pocket as the Fuji

Price difference between the 2 is around $75
