oil leak
#1
So my jeeps been leaking for awhile, 3+ months

It seems to go down about 1 quart every 3k miles or so

I did an oil change last weekend and threw in a bottle of Lucas Oil heavy duty stabilizer just to see what would happen. The bottle said it was suppose to help recondition seals and gaskets along with improving performance. I was surprised to see that the oil leak has virtually stopped. Instead of a puddle under the jeep its down to maybe 1 drip. Defineately a big improvement. Lucas also makes an oil stop leak product too

Now on to my tech question.. I assume the leak is/was due to the rear main seal wearing out. The jeep has 92k miles on it. How hard is it to replace the seal yourself? Anyone done it before?

Paul just did his recently. Post it up when you want to do it. I'd be willing to help as I would also like to replace the rear main seal on mine soon.

This seems like a good write-up with pictures. http://www.jeepin.com/features/rearmain/
