Im planning on doing my Flag-Sedona trip again on Monday,
RAIN is in the forcast and Im counting that it will rain.
Easy run mostly scenic, FR 9492D to Schnebly Hill Rd then down into Sedona.

Any takers???

Mmm. Sedona mud is fun in the rain.
I'll be at a Rim lake for the weekend duration.
If you get on Schnebly take that road S that is just shy of the lookout. Rough road but great sights over Sedona.

Interesting. Google Earth lists a good deal of Bigfoot activity near my BCL campsite:

The section of the Mogollon Rim zone targeted in the second Arizona expedition likely has several different families of sasquatches that feed upon the abundant elk herds there. It is a surprisingly wet area, by Arizona standards. At the hottest, driest times of the year in the rest of Arizona, this particular portion of the rim receives very reliable precipitation, as humid air from the Gulf of Mexico is funneled up and over the rim, creating updrafts into colder air which results in massive thunderheads and rain showers nearly every afternoon. The vegetation in this area is surprising lush and green, supportiong a particularly large elk and deer population.

Bear Canyon with the church?

Well, we invited them. Hopefully it's not just a couple's with babies thing. I thought the hike in would discourage the breeders.
#6
Trust me, the quickest way to discourage the breeders is a hike, but also advertise NO FACILITIES. Quick way to get us to stay home. If that doesn't, try flaming quicksand of death that looks like treats. that works every time. }:)

Paul, it looks like Marcia and I might be going with you. Sounds like fun.

I think we might be going as well. It could be an all XJ run.

Plus, I'll finally put faces to screen names. :)=)

Cool!
How does a 6-7 am meet up time @ the chevron on carefree & I-17 sound?
#10
We may be going up Sunday and if that is the case we will meet you guys up there. I do not know where FR 9492D is, but I assume it is somewhere near Mountainaire? If not can you think of a road or exit where we will be able to meet you two?

I'll keep you posted. Whether we head up early or not I'll be sure to let you know.

no problem, that FS road is just our side of Munds Park
But I'm sure we can meet up @ that gas station just off the exit?

PM sent with info!

Paul, how about 7am?

7 it is :)g)
Now for another question... Do we want to go into Flag? Or just go into Munds Park & start the trail? Time wise that road will take 1.5-2hr depending on how many stops we make & / or weather too, there's also some Geocaches in the area too.
And I figured lunch in Sedona...
"might" look into going from Sedona to another town, jerome, Prescott.... Ideas??
#15
All or any of it sounds good to me. I'll just follow. I just wanted to get out of town for the day.

I've always been interested in what's East of Sedona as well as NW of Oak Creek. From Google Earth there appears to be a maze of FS roads, some of which look like they lead to the western edge of Oak Creek Canyon. From the 89A North there appears to be access to a FS road exactly 1 mile after the entrance to the Scenic Overlook.

Any idea or thoughts on this?

Well if you can lead or provide a map we can do that too :)

Can't lead because I have not been there before and I don't have a map of the area. :)=)

I say we debate on where to go while eating lunch in Sedona?

Sounds good to me :)g)
