Argon Bottle for MIG Welder
#1
Anyone have an extra bottle I could rent or borrow or something? Or know of where to get one cheap?

I called Praxair and they rent bottles for $11 a month ($132/yr.) or they sell them for $127. Regulator is another $60 from them. HF has a regulator for $30.

Anyway, long story short, I don't want to spend $200 to add gas to a free welder right now.
Welder = FREE
New Gun = $35
Got it working with flux core wire.
I'd like to add gas and use solid wire.

Still looking. (In case anyone has a hookup to get things cheaper.) I should have just bought a bottle last spring and been done with it.

Got another quote from Praxair yesterday:
55cf Argon bottle $130 with $27 fills.
80cf Argon bottle $160 with $38 fills.
Victor regulator $75.

I'm leaning towards buying the still small, but little bit bigger 80cf bottle.

Yeah, I thought about renting one to try out the sizes. Money isn't really an issue, but I don't want to spend much either. That's why I was leaning towards the 80cf bottle vs. the 55cf. I've never really welded much with MIG gas, but I was reading online that the standard is to set the regulator to 20cf per hour. An 80cf bottle would last about 4 hours then. For the size of projects I plan on working on, that should be enough to where I'm not having to refill daily. It's all unknown to me.
