I need help
#1
I just my Cherokee back the shop and they told me it is going to cost about $3,800 to fix. After geting the list of things that need to be done, 80% of the cost is labor.

I was wondering if there is anyone that could help me so I can cut out some of the labor cost. Just to list a few things, I need a

New cooling fan motor relay,
Rear tranny main seal, filter and fluid,
Breaks and rotors.

My Chero has been overheating for the past months or so and I really dont have the money to get all this done by the dealer.

Please let me know if anyone can help and when you are available.

Thanks

That's an awful lot of work J.
You know I can take a Wrangler apart and put it back together with a relatively small amount of "extra" parts but I don't even know how to do that with my Nissan much less your Grand.
Do you even know how to get past the rest of the stuff to what needs to be replaced?
IMHO I think you should try Steve and Jonathan's mechanic for the larger stuff and then make a list of things you can do with a little help.

Well, I definately know how to do the brakes and rotors and could help with that. Cooling fan relay? Not sure on that, but changing a relay shouldn't be too difficult. On the transmission, changing the filter and fluid isn't too bad, but I'm not sure about the seal. Is that the rear main seal on the engine oil pan?

What year ZJ and engine does it have?

I would second the advice to use my mechanic. He has a shop set up in his garage with everything. He is super honest (gives receipts for all the parts with no mark up) and charges half what most garages charge per hour. He has done tons of work on mine and steve's nissans and I even bring him our company trucks. He does great work...never had any complaints. He will tell you honestly what you need done and what you don't (no johnson rod) :)=)

I have decided to jut install a switch for the cooling fan instead of trying to replace the relay which should be pretty easy. Brakes and rotors really are not a problem, my main issues are the ream main seal and tranny filter and fluid.

My Grand Cherokee is a 2002, automatic with the 4.0 strait 6. I get off work at 6 and 5 on Sunday with Tuesday and Wednesday off. I would really like to get this done as soon as possible so anyone available to help please let me know.

Chris, PM me your number and I will give you a call.

Thanks Everyone
