Black Cave and Fort Tule 1-24-09
#1
A couple more places checked off my list.
Went back out to the same area I was around last weekend. Kind of impromptu, but Team Yellowsub accompanied me and Offoradaz road shotgun playing navigator for us. Most of the areas were unknown to us and unmarked so we were working off some old topo maps paired with the GPS.
Started out trying to find a way out to Black Cave. Our first two attempts were fails b/c of private property but we found another way in. The trail wasn't too tough, just narrow and pinstripingly delicious like driving naked through a rake factory. It did lead to some nice overlook views of the Pleasant area. We stopped near where we assumed the cave to be and Chris actually found an old trail. It was definitely led us to a black coated wall cave, but unfortunately it did not enter in further than 50 feet. We backtracked until we had made it to a grassy area just shy of the main road and ate lunch there.
We continued on to the Humbug area I had been last weekend. Did the big step down thing and into and across the creek. By using the maps we managed to make it all the way back to Fort Tule. We explored around a bit upcreek but didn't have time to hike too far to some of our other marked POI's. Found the old miner's dog grave nearby.
We drove out in the direction of the Table Mesa outlet, but turned right and stayed on Cow Creek all the way back to the lake and out.
I really had fun again and am glad to have had help in enjoying it this go round. Should have a few pics up tomorrow.

Thanks for taking the pics. I had a good time messing around out there. I'd like to see more ruins so we'll have to hit the ones we didn't have time for another time soon.

I like the first two a lot. :P
Chris looks like a serious spelunker:)=)
