A. Donkey - Some sort of horsen animal.
B. Larger dog - Lab, Golden Retriever, etc.

Based on Virgils observation, I'd have to go one step further and name them:

A. Stacy (first "real" girlfriend... jackass might be a more appropriate title than donkey, however)
B. Chris H. (old friend of mine who, although technically human, is actually a dog.)

I'm thinking:

#1: Mule Deer or Coues (whitetail) deer
#2 Javelina

Alan has already solved it. They are the tracks of Stacy and Chris.

I think I should mention that the tracks were taken in a volleyball court at my work complex (56th street and the 101)

This 56th st. and the 101? To me it looks like it's fairly close to the desert
