Xtra cab swap
#21
did some work underneath too, hooked up the trans temp gage, and heatshields for the exhaust, sorry no pics. Just re-assembly stuff.

Another w/e another round of repairs and re-assembly;

last week I got the battaries mounted and wired;

I figure this takes 60 pounds out of teh nose and puts it behind axle center lines to help with weight balance. should improve handling and crawlin. Easpecially since teh tonneau cover and tailgate are not going back on.

Saturday BOVADS GIRL's glass company came and put a winshield in and I finished wiring things up so I could try to start it. We had success, I was able to drive it back in the garage later that day after working on it. It didn't have water in it so I didn't want to run it too long. I mounted teh Co2 bottle behind my seat and I built some inner fenders and bolted the fenders on.

Sunday I started with some other stuff around the house like installing our ice maker in the new fridge and repairing the trans cooler lines on the dodge. there is a clamp thing that isolates teh cooler lines that rubs a hole in them over time so I had to cut out the worn out part and install a compression fitting to put them back together. trans fluid everywhere but I had it done by noon then I could get back on the Syota.

reconnected teh exhaust, (Had to move the muffler back to clear the cab), re-installed teh flares and hood, which needed a new hinge to make line up properly. I also put water in it and drove it around the block just cos I could;

After I took these pics I re-installed teh side windows and rear slider but didin't take pics. 1 weekend left and it won't be fully done by t-giving but it will be wheel-able and thats the important part right now. :D

mid-week updates with dark pics sorry;

Painted the bedsides and rear and put the fenders back together, also painted teh rocker panels and sliders;

So Saturday I busted out the bender again to start on the tubework in the bed. I started with some hole in the bed to run the tubes through and then the hoop around the cab. added a bit to the rear bumper then a few other tubes. still have to build a spare tire mount yet though. Here's a few pics;

Sunday I got the old doors out and painted them up and got them on as well as cleaned up a few other things to get ready for this weekends trip.

#30
I have another set of doors that are gonna go on later but I need to strip them and paint them as well as do some work so I can custom mount some mirrors, spare tire mount, battery covers and some intererior storage control and this build should be done? :rolleyes:

Hey it's Sunday so you know what that means, Yup updates;

Saturday all I did was swap out the speedo cable that was broken and falling out of the back of teh speedometer.

Sunday I started teh spare tire mount. Need a latch a way to hold the tire in and some bumpstops for it yet but here's what I got so far;

Got nothin done Saturday cos I was workin on the Dodge so I could go pick up this;

Sunday however I got a few things done to the spare tire "rack"

Worked on some bumps to cushion it while in the down position;

Here you can see the latches for holding it down and my battery covers as well;
#34
Latches in teh down position and battery covers;

Battery covers are to keep the weather off them and keep them a little bit outta sight.

Also got the rear glass put in and some 20 horsepower ea. stickers applied :D;

Close up of the spare tire carrier;

BADAZ had a good idea on how to lock teh tire carrier down;

#36
Did some more work on it friday before we left for Payson;
Gussets and beverage holders;

#37
Also painted the steering wheel so the sun can't reflect off it anymore and installed this;
Now ya see it;

Now ya don't;
#38
Still got some things to do yet with the doors and a highlift mount and other stuff but it's wheelable and I really like the extra space.
#39
That is sick!!! It looks great! The time you took to make it look good paid off.

Thanks for posting here. I'd been following your work on another board.
I don't know how that thing could be more sexy. It looked great before but I'm diggin all the tube work front to back. The bumper all the back to your tire carrier set up. :cool)
Can't wait to see it on the trails (or in the air :) real soon
