Here's a summary of the day in 10 photos.

We started the day by discussing vehicle preparedness. What you need to check and have spare parts and knowledge of how to fix.

Jimmy and Tony model two of Scott’s survival vests while he goes over the contents and explains different uses for each item. We also went through one of the members survival kit to evaluate as seen on the ground.

Starting fires with 0000 steel wool and two AA batteries.

Get out the cotton balls and light them on fire using flint.

Here we gathered our own tinder and started a fire using what we could find. This proved to be easy for some, but much more difficult than steel wool or cotton balls.

Jimmy has a fire while others are still working on it.

Here Scott goes over how to use a compass and many other details with finding your location or determining bearings.

Hike a 200 pace box using the compass. Sounds simple right? Not so in rugged terrain.

Map reading.

Brad and Stephen light up some flares to end the day.
