Canyon de Chelly - Oct 4-6 2008

First off, many thanks to Sc00by for the free seat invite on this trip. Mostly his Hammy friends this go round. 11 Jeeps total. Since this year it was just him and Virgil representing HG, I hope you like XJ pictures :P
Great three days down in the canyon. There were ruins pretty much every 1/4 to 1/2 mile; some 200ft above the canyon floor. For those not familliar, it's like a guided tour, only on your terms. We had a Navajo guide ride with us who grew up in the canyon that would timeline the ruins, tell stories, etc.
Nothing hardcore on the wheeling, mostly sand and after the rains Saturday, plenty of mud. I'm pretty sure most of it is now in Sc00by's driveway. Evenings were spent around the campfire and the Indians told stories and sang in Navajo. Our camp site was in a cave area a stones throw away from more ruins. The rain on Saturday didn't touch camp because of the cliff overhang but the water falling off the canyon was amazing. Probably have an official write up since we have so many pics.
We'd like to propose an official HG trip next year. It would be a great 2nd option for those that have already said they were out for Moab b/c of time off issues. With an easy pace and plenty of history information, it should be a good sell for families or friends. Think about it and ask questions if you have them.
Here's a few photos for now. More to follow. The colors there were rediculously beautiful.

Wow!
Mike again your pictures are just awsome!!!
Glad you enjoyed the trip!
I too had a blast yes not much in the wheeling but over all its a fun trip!
The rain was awsome with all the mini water falls (and some rocks falling 8| )

I too think a trip next year would be great, the guides - Navajo's are nice people and full information-storys on the canyon and the nightly entertainment is cool too!
Like Mike said if you have questions please feel free to ask!
"And So"... heres my attempt again at capturing some of the canyons beauity...

Awesome Michael and Paul.

Photos are starting to roll in here.

I took 341 pictures, so I'm still working on sorting and getting the better ones posted.

That looks like an awesome trip, I'd be in for a HG trip.

Yeah I'd say he won the take home prize :)=)

Sunset on the canyon storm

I did miss you guys. Not being able to boss people around for posing purposes, etc made it tougher to get shots ;)
Some of these photos I had to take out the window as we were rolling.

Man, that is freaking amazing. I am so insanely happy for you and jealous at the same time. I love the one of the camp site with the cliff and the XJ. I love the one of the fire on the cave roof from far away. I love the mud. DANG that's a sweet trip!

Wow. How did you get the sticker to stay on top of the mud like that? :)=)

The mud is cool however... I know I'll have to drop over $20 at the local car wash to wash all that crud off and if you thing the out side is bad... you should see under it 8|

Mike again was great to have you come along, thanks for the grub & the company!

I really wish we could of tagged along with that 2nd group as they got to goto spider rock in the rain and even had 1 person in there group get stuck in the mud & required some winch action :)g)
