Just want to get out of the heat and relax.

Plan:
Head up Friday afternoon.
Relax in the nice cool higher elevation.
Close to a stream to play in H2O.
Relax at camp and let kids play.
Explore some trails (not familiar with trails in area so will be exploring).
Relax by the camp fire.
Maybe run trails in evening, who knows this is all about fun and relaxing out of the heat.
Have beverages and relax.
Did I mention relaxing in a nice cool environment?
Camp and go home Sunday.

The camp area we found is off the Houston Mesa road.

Anyone interested or know of some cool trails?

There are a couple of caves up in that area that you have to take some back roads too. Not too technical but they are remote and away from the crowds.

I think Preacher Canyon is one of them? I forget the name of the road though. Michael is pretty familiar with that area

Chris, how far in off of 87 on Houston Mesa? Did you go back far enough to hit Payeatte Rd.? If not you should. It's where the Draw is and I don't think you've ever been up there have you?

How far back is it? When you go back about 10 miles you have to either go left or right, which direction is it?

The place we found to camp is only 5 miles from the turn onto Houston Mesa, then 1 mile on dirt road.

Hoping we can find someone to go with us to do a bit of exploring, right now flying solo...

Hey I was just going to post up a camping trip in Payson some of us Xterras are getting together.

We planned to leave after work Friday night and head up... Camp Friday night, Wheel Saturday and head home Saturday night.

Maybe if you don't postpone we can hook up if you don't mine a few more Xterras tagging allong.

Our plan was to camp at the end of the road that is left from the 260 next to Wal-Mart (can't remember the FR number for the life of me). But it ends next to a feeder creek to the verde and a wilderness area west of payson (past the big golf resort).

I'm not sure where this trail is... But if it is stock friendly (yeah one X is stock still... Give her a few more weeks, parts are on order).

Oh... And we will bring a Jeep with us to even out the Xs :)

Our head count is 1 Xterras confirmed, 1 Jeep confirmed, and 2 other Xterras tenative.

And some caving would be pretty cool too... I haven't hit a cave since Devils Den in AR probably 15 years ago.

I'll keep an eye here and if you guys don't mind Since I'm the instigator with the X group I'll try to get a meet going. If you guys are still on that is :)

Oh... And since this is my first post... Hi BTW :) ... Blame skatchkins for introducing me over here.

Hope to wheel with you guys soon... PM me if you want my number to cordnate... I do most of my plans for runs over text messaging.

Dang, thanks for the invite, I wish we could have made it. Wife got sick and I did not see this post until today.

I never mind another type of vehicle wheeling with me as long as they don't mind my Jeep. To me they all have their plus and minus and a good driver can make up for alot.

I look forward to wheeling with you soon, I need to get my seat out there and get more wheeling done.

Well no worries... We are going again this weekend if your interested :) ... Once we have plans finalized I'll post the locations.

But the high level plans are, Payson area, Friday-Sat for sure, and Sunday possible. Leaving Scottsdale at about 7PM on Friday.

Oh... And Suggestions on camping and wheeling areas are welcomed :D
