Crown King run with the VJC
#1
Had a good time. Yes it was hot, dusty and things broke, but still fun!

Quick recap, Alan cracked his radiator, Paul broke a front axle shaft and my fuse for the electric fan kept popping. But at least I made it out of the parking lot this time! :)g)

Got to see the damage from the Lane fire first hand too. Most of the trees going up the backway were still green and it looked like the fire didnt get much over there. Allot of the trees to the east of crown king are gone. Looks like the fire got pretty close to the town, but crews were able to hold it off.

Heres a few pics I took

I have to admit, I did have a great time, despite the heat and the dust... I think just part of the tradition and I'm glad we kept it alive.

Sc00by got some good pics and I'm processing the video to make a highlight reel from the trip.

All the folks on the run were first rate, friendly folks that knew how to wheel and it made the day awesome. Most of the obstacle were conquered and everyone wheeled where they felt comfortable.

It was great to see CK again, make some new friends, and finally wheel with Chris and Paul again!!! Great job, guys. I'm looking forward to the September trip.

Forgot to mention Alan caught about 4 - 5 feet of air on an obstacle, I actually thought he was about to go over but he gunned it and crested the top just in time

HA! That was a blast. I don't think Ivan was too impressed, but I enjoyed getting "Fat Bob Air" this trip out!!!

Again thanks to my son Zach for taking control of the camera on this trip!!

AND This is where that "pop" 8| sound was heard

Chris's turn for some trail side attention

Very nice set of shots. Captured a lot of action Zach! New rule: If I don't make a run, you have to be there. ;)

Question: is that Jeep on 35's taking the bypass??

I'd poke fun at Alan for having such a clean Jeep, but it does looks good in the photos. I don't think you know how little I appreciated Cherokees untill you two showed up with yours.

Great shots looks like you guys had a blast (until the poop happend).

Really did have a good time, even though hot and dusty...

This one is my current desktop wallpaper. :)=)

It's only clean because I DO still have to wear a suit and go to work in Scottdale with my soccer practice, grocery getting, trail machine... :red|

One day it might be a trailer queen, but hope to be back into a Wrangler by then... I've been pretty happy with what an XJ can do, though. I had always ignored them until last year's VJC ride when there were two or three that ran over anything. It at least opened my eyes to them being a pretty good compromise vehicle if you can't just run a built YJ (or TJ) all the time...

And YES, that was captain bypass on the 35's that you saw. }:)

Yep I like that one too.

Regarding the other one. I really just don't know what to say.

This picture brings up a :?:

Now Maybe Bob, can shed some light on this...
If your "locked" in the front should that tire be spinning that quickly?
My thought is if its locked (ARB, Lock Right, spool, 6018) should
that 1 tire be spinning the way it is? I know the mechanical (lock right) will ratchet when you turn...
#13
I had just assumed he wasn't locked at the time
#14
I know he has a locker I just don't know if it was in each end... If it is locked it could be the first part of the spin that we are seeing. I know that my wheel still spins a little then locks in and I am locked F/R

I'm front and rear with a danalock on the front and a lockright on the rear.

Actually, I was wondering the same thing too... :red| Thanks for asking, Paul. That left side clicks a lot after a trail ride, then calms down again after a week... broken locker?

One way to find out... When was the last time you changed that Dif fluid?

What is a danalock? Looked on Google didn't find what I wanted...

Bob, I'm sorry... its a Dana PowerLok.

• K&N air filter
• 6” Tomken Machine suspension lift
• Dana Power Lok in front, Lock-Right in back
• Superior Super 35 kit with 30 spline axles
• 4:56 gears
• Dunlop 33x12.50 tires
• ARB Winch Bull Bar bumper
• Spare tire swing out carrier
• 48” Hi Lift jack

• 5 gallon water can
• CB radio
