end times series at ccv
#1
Looking forward to the next 3 weeks at church. Don is going to be speaking about end time prophecy and comparing to to current events. Should be good!

Heres a quick summary
End Times

With so many books and movies claiming to know what will happen in the end times, it can be difficult to have a secure understanding about what is to come. Join us for this revealing new series as we set out to discover what the Bible has to say about the end times.

* July 12/13: When Will Jesus Return?
* July 19/20: Will There Be a Tribulation?
* July 26/27: What Happens When We Die?

As always, if you want to go let me know and we can meet you there or have a jeep parade there

Um, so the first sentence of the summary has me confused. He states that so many books and movies "claim" to know what will happen. Wouldn't they get their information from the same place he would? What makes his information any better than the thousands of books etc.... that have been written over the years and all claiming to be interpreting information out of the bible?

Ugh... Ill miss the last 2 services :(

"Interpretting" the Bible and taking what is said for face value is different. So is selecting one verse to base a movie off of when there is no understanding of or you simply discount all of the others.

Of course I'm not a Biblical schollar either so... I guess your questions about the subject might be better answered at the service instead of by me.

nah, allot of movies and books are based off personal opinion and other secular writings (nostradamus and others). One of the most important beliefs of the Christian faith is that the Bible is the word of God and absolutely true. I think what the summary was referring to was explaining in detail what the Bible says as oppose to what man says.

Youre welcome to join us on a Saturday or Sunday if youd like. CCV's at 67th ave and happy valley

It's always interesting when you try and do a sermon on one of the most debated books of the bible.
Wonder if he will fall into one school of thinking or touch on a few of the majors ones.

X2. One of the cool things about Don, too, is that he stays away form "church talk" and just talks normal and relatable to real life.

Part of what brought this up was a survey he gave the church about "what are the things you wish we would talk about more" and was going to do a three part series on the top three questions, but the response was so big (over 93%) on "end of times" related question, that he's doing a series on it.

If it's anything like the sex drive series, it'll be pretty open and frank and worth checking out. I'm interested in Don's take/angle as well. It's a pretty big subject with lots of opinions, so this'll be good.

The West Side M&G is Saturday again, so maybe a Jeep parade is in order for anyone who wants to come to 4:30 or 6:15 Saturday night service, then head over to see SY and crew! I'll buy dinner... LOL

I hope there's wheelin' in heaven... :)=)
