#1
It was actually a close vote 5-4

Court finds Second Amendment protects individual right to bear arms
The first AP report says the right extends to “self-defense and hunting.”

This is definitely not only a great day for the responsible citizens of D.C., but for the peoples right to bear arms all across the country. I don't think this decision could've turned out any better.

it was too close though. 5-4? Should have been at least 6-3

After a few of the cases they decided on the last few weeks I was a little worried about this one.

I was worried about this case ever since they agreed to hear it. I know how the majority of the court usually rules, but this one is something that scotus had not looked at since the 1700's when it was ratified as the second amendment. I'm not really surprised as to who the disenters were. This was probably the most important ruling that a lot of these justices have had so far in their careers. They have essentially defined a sentence for us that has never had more divided interpretations.

Just want to say that even though I'm a X driver, I'm glad to consider myself a Jeeper at heart. Good to know most of the same opinions are shared in this community.

Too many Lefty and Canadian Xterra drivers out there (most of which are women I'm sure ;) ). Mention guns on one of those boards and it's like having a discussion with Obama himself.

Just sayin, sometimes I like you guys.

Geez. Someone shoots your kid's chair to death and you register democrat?
(I'm joking with you Nate)
I really thought Jonathan was our closet boy. But then he married my sister so... I mean I thought Dems only got married in Cali.

Anyway. Just saying. You mention guns or muslims on an X board and it's asking for 4 pages of dissent.

As the board's "Dem" representative (since no one else will step up), I'm going to have to create a social program that costs you money to help me with my therapy, while also allowing me to take God out of your schools and the pledge. If you think I'm done trying to take your guns, you are dead wrong, buddy. If I can take the 10 commandments out of government offices and approve gay marriage, then I'll get your guns.

Now if you don't mind, I'm busy trying to help some gay illegal immigrants (who would like to be married) enter the country. Is that "war thing" still going on? I haven't seen it in the news lately, what with the tomato scare and all...

(Dem or not, I'm from Arkansas. More guns = good. Sometimes your upbringing is MUCH stronger than your political affiliations! I'm still upset everyone doesn't close school for deer season.)

thanks for clarifying the sarcasm, Mike...

I honestly don't care what board (except my own because it's OFF TOPIC) I talk about protecting myself and my family on. Our country was built on the premise of protecting our selves from all aggressors be it foreign or domestic. Fawking hippies want to talk about how the US has changed in the last 200 years. They are right. We've gotten to be more of a pansy hug fest type community. I'm not for the random killing of things either. Yeah, I hunt, but anything I kill goes directly into my freezer (however it's bare at the moment. :D). But if someone is threatening the safety or future ability to breath life of one of my friends or family members I will not hesitate to take any and all means necessary to protect them. I have no misgivings about that. I'd rather have 10 dead wastes of space than one raped daughter, sister, wife or friend. Hate me for it, I don't care.

That being said I'm not one of those people that thinks the world is going to end and has to keep a minimum of 3 army units worth of ordinance in their houses. I also don't think that there is any reason for the general public to need fully automatic weapons. I can pull the trigger fast enough on my own.
