Die hard night run...
#1
So there I am hot tired and stinky… I feel as I am about to pass out behind the wheel of my truck. Everything hurts from moving out of a 2nd story condo when it was 115 out…
Jack tricks me into ridding along for a quick night run… ok so Jack didn’t trick me…
So we roll out to meet up at Table Mesa by 7:45. About half way to the air down spot the trailer lost a tire… Paboom. No problem we have more tires. Ok, problem. We have nothing to change the tire with.
We un hook the trailer and Jack heads to the store.
Jump ahead to 8:50pm…
We pull in to the air down spot and unload. Off to the trail we go like giddy little school girls.
We drop in and avoid running over a little rabbit.
We slowly make our way over the rocks and Jack walked his heep up the water falls. That thing is just sick!

Then it happened…
We got stuck behind a group of big boys (V8 power, 42 inch tires, and a bunch of cage). The problem is they couldn’t drive. And had no clue as to how to recover a rig. So we sat there not more than 50ft from the end of the trail for almost 4 hours. We made the most of the trail with sing alongs and good old fashion bs’ing.
When they got their junk off the trail we drove it in less than 10 min only to be blocked AGAIN!!!! At this point people were about to die. Things were said and in the end we drove around them to get back to our trailers.
I got home about 5:30-6am, took a shower and crawled into bed before the 3 hours of sleep till my alarm went off for church.

Thanks to Jack for letting me ride along.

HA, I wondered if you were going to put anything up about Sat. night. :)=)

Yeah it was the best intentions and worst execution. These guys had no business being on this trail no matter what kind of machines they were driving. Needless to say a 5k pound buggy with 42's and a completely dead tranny are hard to move off the trail. They had to tug that damn thing the last half of the trail. Unfortunately there is no where to get out of the Die Hard wash until the very end. So we were stuck. They did nicely tell us twice they'd try to get out of our way, but that didn't happen. Finally at 4 am. and the end in site things got a little more heated and we were on our way.

Die Hard is a great trail and unfortunately we were on it for 8 hours saturday night.

That will teach you not to turn down our night run next time. We went with at least four big boys with 40"s and up, powered by chevy small blocks (all very experienced drivers). We were able to run lower woodpecker and upper ajax in less than three hours; total of seven rigs. Home in bed by 1:30:lol:

Yeah, I should've known better. If you remember rightly I didn't want to go anyway. :)=) The only good part of the night was that Junky and Bob got to see Die Hard for the first time and the evil thoughts that were going thru my head at 5 am. Thinking about screaming at the top of my lungs while Tater Puff and Sleepin Bob were pleasantly resting while I had to drive our asses home. :))
