3 or 5 point harness
#1
Theres been allot of threads over on the other boards about upgrading seats and seatbelts to 5 point harnesses.

I had a full 5 point system in my old bronco, and honestly didnt like it because I couldnt lean forward or out the side. I hated using it on road because it was allot harder to get to things. I found myself wearing the lap belt only

My question, why does everyone insist on going with a 4 or 5 point harness sytem? Is there something wrong with the standard 3 point seat belt in a roll over?

I bought a 5 point system for my YJ, installed it... two weeks later took it out and sold them on Craigslist for the same reason.

Maybe it has to do with DD vs trail only... I don't know, but I didn't like it on the trial either since I couldn't move enough to see spotters or obstacles.

My 2 cents. I went back to 3 pt.

The problem with a 3pt is that when you roll or flop it will not do much to keep you from moving side to side. The other problem with the stock 3pt is that it locks up when you are on an incline or decline.
I have a 5 pt in the heep but have always just used the lap belt... till now. I will be using all but the nut stap.

yah ive had the 3 point lock up when im off camber, but I assume thats how tight the 5 point would be too

with aftermarket bucket style seats, it seems like those would hold you in more with the side to side movement?

ive never actually seen anyone run with a suspension seat and 3 point harness

I wonder if they make a 5 point that lets you move forward and back like the 3 point but auto locks when needed?

3 point is just fine for what you use your Jeep for ;)
