Glendale Fire Prevention Parade
#1
Ok, here is an event I have been involved with for years now. I am coordinating it for the AZOHVC, but would like to see if this crew would like to also have an entry in the parade, and there is also the opportunity to have a booth in the static display in the park afterwards.

The parade is cool, lots of people, but afterwards there are thousands that stick around and watch the competitions between fire houses, games for kids, fire trucks for kids to climb on, etc... We reach alot of people there and get to talk to the public. I think this would be a great opportunity to reach out for this group and let like minded people of 4x4's know that there are options, and that Christian 4x4 groups are still fun and give a good environment to wheel in.

It is usually the first weekend of October, on Saturday. I will get mroe details as it gets closer, is there any interest by this group to attend?

It is predominatly vehicles, one year we did partner with a few local girl scout troops (we had participated in the Are you man enough to be a girl scout benefit car show, this was to help them promote it) by putting a trailer with hay on it behind a 4x4 truck. Most decorate their vehicles, but I am sure if we wanted to do a float we could. What kind of float do you have in mind???

One thing to keep in mind, there can be no candy or other items thrown into the crowd, for insurance reasons, the worry is that a kid or someone would run out to pick up something that did not make it into the crowd and get run over.

It is also a good idea to pick a couple vehicles that are going to represent the club and get them parked in the static display before the parade begins, this allows us to get parked in a good spot, get the tables ready for the hand outs for after the parade. It is a very cool event, we usually bring huge poster boards with pictures of runs, and another one with before and after shots of clean ups, then hand outs from pencils to temporary tatts, to stickers to coloring books etc... we have found that if we can get the kids to approach with give aways that the parents follow and will then talk with us. So if we could get some temporary tatts of the fish logo from here, or stickers and take some pics of the different OHV rigs from here and cut out the color, make then a line drawing like a coloring book we can put not only some captions on the bottom of the pages that are sending good messages about responsible OHV, but also OHV Christian Messages. What do parents do with their kids colorings, put them up on the fridge of course.

Just some ideas, but we would have to come up with the money to cover these costs, but would be a great idea to get the message out.

Don't we have some one here that works at a printing company? Can they get us an idea on the cost of making the temp tattoos of the lifted fish?

How about a little statement with it like "God forgives, rocks don't" or something like that?

That someone is in Moab right now, enjoying God's creation (and spooning, evidently...)
