Any tips

I'm gonna replace my fancy two peice exhaust manifold this weekend with a lowly one peice:)g) and was wondering if there is anything I should know to make it go as smooth as possible. I was told you could unhook the hoses and such that run to the manifold and just lift it up onto the valve cover, then I read the Haynes book.

I havent had to do that yet, Sc00by or Alan might be able to give you some tips

Ive yet to do mine... but wouldnt mind a headder to go with the banged up glass pack muffler :)g)

I would suggest:
#1 a cool engine
#2 some WD-40 or PB blaster
#3 new exht. gasket
#4 torque to Manf spec & work from the middle out when doing so.

On my 350 I pulled the old manifolds and put in headers. I remember snapping at least two of the bolts off in there. I would've been in a bad place, but I was actually in there to replace the engine anyway :cool)

I'd def try soaking it in PB days in advance. Saturate them all, tap 'em with a hammer to set up some vibration each time.

I'd also lock-tite those bolts into the new exhaust or consider getting a copper gasket from somewhere like Loper's. Even with lock washers and some Blue LT it was an ongoing battle with leaks at the block.
