Coves 3-21-08 Short Night Run
#1
Just Bob driving, me shotgunning.
Full moon, week unwinding night run.

Business as usual at first cove. Steepness in photo doesn't do it justice but if you've been there, you know the hill. He had to ride the brake pedal for almost 30min 'till someone came and pulled him straight again.

Departed and explored around. Tried to find the AZ Xterra club camped out at the 4th cove. Mission accomplished finally along with scaring the crap out of them. Bob's Jeep engine braking, belt screaming down a big hill into people's camp and straight at their vehicles gets them moving

A couple quick pics

Bob, know that place that the camp was in the road and we had to turn around and go back up the hill and around? They were still there when the X club went out so they just went around into the lake and just about sunk one on a drop off. Flooded it and had to pull it out 8|

Nice. Yeah I wasn't going to risk it.

looks awesome, do you have any more pictures?

Nah. I only got the camera out twice. Night shots are fun, but guessing around on manual focus and how long to keep the shutter open to get enough light in but not let the stars move on you, etc can take a while. Just got lucky there was little movement on the hill shot.

I gotta say though, experiencing Bob's 4:1 was way cool. He just pointed the Jeep at the steepest rutted hill he could find, let off the pedals (even the clutch), and let the Jeep go. I reckon he could just point the Jeep north out there, lock the steering wheel and meet the Jeep up in Payson a week later. It was rediculous how well it climbed and wouldn't stop.
