Tire Carrier for my Tacoma
#1
I have not seen any other trucks on here but thought I would share these pictures of the tire carrier I built last week.

I like to fab up things in metal if anyone needs help with something. I'm not an expert by any stretch. I just enjoy it.

I still need to add a mount for water can, High lift, shovel(for the mud) and my CB antenna. I got side tracked with all the mud clean-up.

how will it mount to the truck? Going to bolt the sides down?

Yes, It has two sheet metal screws on each side that hold it to the sides. Worked great this last weekend.

I will need to have it powder coated after I get the additional items on it.

Anyone know of a cheaper place to do powder coating?

My next project is bumpers.:))

I would love to make some. My issue is welding to the frame.

My little Lincoln 110 isn't big enough for that I don't think.

I'll make them if someone can weld them to the frame for me.....

It is a Lincoln Weld pak 100 with gas.

If you think it will do it that would be great. I really can't afford to buy them right now but I have plenty of steel to make some....

I also have a 2" bender die. Not sure if it would work in your machine.....

I have plans to make a bender but never finished it.....

You are right!

I go to american metals in Mesa and dig through their scrap pile. I think it is $1 or $1.25 a foot. Anything you need for smaller projects.

I was thinking of using the square tubing for some of it and round tubing for the outside piece. Kick outs front and back.

Shouldn't take long to make. Couple hours max.

Let me know if you have use of that 2" die.

If you go up Vista Del Sol and turn on Onza, you will see my Jeep.

As for help, I do have a couple welding projects and a friend has a Taco that wants a modified version of that tire carrier. I saw also that you are about to put on a lift kit, if you need help, I am close and have a lot of tools...or mechanically ability!! We just did a 3" on a 2wd Taco. I'll PM you my #.
