Redhead?
#1
I missed a few spots when painting my roof rack and now it's PAINFULLY obvious (due to some beginning rust areas) that I need to repaint, so I've pulled my roof rack off to paint it.

I want to paint it red, but you don't see any "red headed" XJ's... is that for a reason, or because no one else is so bold as to try it?!?!?!

Here's the question from the poll:

Should I paint it black again?
Should I paint it red?
Should I paint it another color?

Cammo it :)g)

DESERT camo! Good call.

It'll go with how Ivan REALLY wants to paint my Jeep... 8|

We did a rough mock up in Photoshop for fun... don't worry, I didn't paint the Jeep. LOL

To be honest I think red would be pretty cool.

I don't want it to match the pink soccer balls... I think that would be too much. :)=)

What else on your rig do you have red to tie it in to?

Jerry Can on the rear and the I painted the sway bar red a couple of months ago, so there is a bit of red poking out from under the front. Typically, the hi-lift is on the side, so there is a splash of red there too.

that's it.

that and I like red as an accent color.:)=)

(red and desert camo are running neck and neck on NAXJA, but black picked up several supporters over the weekend.)

should paint your control arms and springs red too, that would be a nice tie in

I'm trying to run that fine line between unique/different/cool vs. color coordinated/mall crawler/show truck. That's large reason why I posted the poll: to get feedback from folks who's opinions I trust (minus Nate, of course...)

Do you think that the coil springs and control arms would be "too much"? Just asking, because I had that debate when I replaced the Center Link and I decided to leave it black for that reason...

what do you think?
#11
I personally like the springs painted accent
#12
I like the springs, just not the control arms... when I'm doing shocks, the springs will go red.

Nate - do you have any friends on the NAXJA board?

Almost gave me a complex!

Update on the colors - I think we are going to play is "safe" and take the middle ground of the Desert Camo on the roof rack (if I don't like it, I paint it again, but there is enought tan and black on the my Jeep already that the Desert Camo color scheme will be different, but still look good. LOL) and Red on the springs when I do the shocks...

I still wonder what a red roof rack would look like... <Sigh> Oh well...

but look how many people voted for red! :)

You are the devil... you know that, right?

I guess my poll brought in a lot of new traffic to the site, then, right?

That's a lot of red votes... I may need to rethink my position. LOL

Yes, I think red springs will look schweet.

Alan, I liked your choice on paint. Almost couldn't see it!

Thanks, Mike. I'm pretty happy with it. I'll get some pics posted this weekend where I can take pictures during daylight hours... but since we went with Camo, you may not even be able to see it in the pictures!

Ivan and I had a lot of fun painting it. In fact, we painted the fire extenguisher camo as well... it's an addiction. We're going to go buy hoodies and a tagging bag next weekend. 8|
